This is the stupidest reason you could get. How exactly am I saving money here? What will this standard of fast charging even be? 20, 25, 50W? If it's 25 I bet 50% chargers that consumers supposedly have don't even support 25W. I have one. I broke one, had to get a new one. Now next year all the brands are going to ditch the included charger, 100%. And I just bought my mothers first phone two years ago, A40, so she has only one. Now with the next purchase I'll have to buy one and for her probably. So how exactly am I saving money here on UNNECESSARY purchases?
The only one who is saving money are companies that make phones LOL!

                It could be very funny if EU says every OEM have to use lightning chargers from apple.
                It would and could be worst possible scenario for us but lot of laugh from Igreedy Icorporation.

                        Lol I knew the EU commission was a joke. Need to mind c0r0na first as they cannot even properly handle it. iPhones can retain Lightning as long as they ship with a charger or vice versa.

                          But its a plain stupidity because you cant connect portless your phone to your PC and send files unless you have a bluetooth device inside your PC.
                          But anything send via bluetooth will take eons.
                          For example just single HD quality movie of 2-3GB will take several hours.

                                [deleted post]True, Apple have made a mess of things by not shifting ph to USB C, They are claiming users have lots of Lightning accessories,,,,if they delay further there will be even more of those accessories! If they had some brain and implemented in along side Apple MacBook there would have that much less lighting accessories. Tin headed revenue hungry Apple is amongst most environmentally corrupt corporation!!

                                USB C is Brilliant. Thank You so much EU for makeing so much sense, people can be a bit dump, don't mind the complaints below, they will be thanking you sometime in future (including tin headed Apple).

                                    By banning bundled chargers EU is pushing consumers to buy sperate chargers because of environmental issues then they are being either stupid or arrogant.

                                    In that case People would be forced to buy seperate chargers & it will come with its own packaging box,manual,plastic wrapping & (another plastic wrapping in case of online purchase).

                                    Per smartphone total waste production is definately gonna incease.


                                    Rather than forcing brands to remove bundled chargers,EU should pass legislation to force smartphone brands to ship phones with 2 different packagings.
                                    One with bundled accessories &
                                    Other one without accessories at reduced prices.

                                    This would satisfy everyone while avoiding unnecessary waste prodction.

I've not had a laptop in years so I guess they've 'progressed' a little in power efficiency. Still, >100W devices aren't generally meant to be portable and they probably don't account even for 1% sales so I stand by my original statement. USB-PD PPS should be mandatory even for notebooks.
