Even though fast charging is detrimental for the battery, apple has to implement the tech not to lose many customers. Any other company would do the same. Its called balance. Trying to keep the condition better while not losing customers.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2021Apple at 5w charging: Apple is doing it for longevity, fast... moreWhat is the point you're trying to make? Fast charging increases heat, and heat is bad for the battery health. Obviously 20-27W is worse for the health than 5W but it won't damage the health too substantially. Personally I still use the 5W charger overnight because I don't care how fast it charges and it'll help with the battery longevity. 11 months in my 12 Pro Max is still at 100% so its obviously working.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2021How woul you know people don't charge their phones ove... morePeople who say general public doesn't charge phones at night have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. Of course they charge them over night. Why wouldn't one when that's the only time you are guaranteed not to use it and when you wake up it's charged and you're ready to go to work or whatever? It's amazing how they have to lie to themselves just to brag how fast charging is the best thing ever. It's not. It's convenient sometimes, but for most users it's actually a problem because phones then get charged to 100% in 30 or 45 minutes and then sit at 100% for the rest of 7-8 hours of night, every single night. It's why phone makers added features like adaptive charge limiting so it only tops up the battery to 100% just before you wake up so it's at 100% for very short time which is the best practice.

Overnight charging is not a problem any more. This does not impact battery life.

Battery life is impacted if you drain your phone battery to 0%. I have been using phone from 2 year and charging it with 25w PD charger, battery is in good health. I can say PD fast chargers are safe.

Everyone here seems have an obsession to fast charging related to battery health. Before you say that you prefer slow charging, you can always do that with one of the chargers you have laying around at home. It is certainly recommended for overnight charging. But if your battery is nearly dead and you have only about 60 minutes before you need to go out, the fast charging will look like a hero.

Wow, that's still pretty slow for 21W on 3240 mAh. I almost always charge my phones overnight and I'm a fan of fast charging, but lately I've grown to appreciate the adaptive charge function on the Pixel series.

It's because people plug it in the evening or throw it on a Qi pad and pick it up in the morning. They aren't the sort of people who would put phone to charge in the morning and expect it to charge fast and only do it up to 80% to preserve battery health. Most people only know charging kills battery over time. They for the most part have no idea battery sitting at 100% for long hours or being hot is bad for its health. They just charge it. And why not do it over night when they don't need to use the device anyway? Your perception of reality is so skewed you see just what you want to see, so you can peddle your BS.

So 20W charging in iphone 13 family is useless.
