Weekly poll: did you put a screen protector on your phone? What about a case?

03 October 2021
Screen replacements can be rather pricey. Also, dropping your phone can break its camera too.

LynX, 03 Oct 2021imagine handling a +1000$ phone without a case+screen-prote... moreWhere's the problem? For me it's absolutely normal. Like handling a €3000 camera only in my hand, without a neck strap. I am only more careful.

Currently and always no screen protector, and a thin case to protect the back when I set my phone down. Have never recieved any notable scratches on the display.

My Pixel 3 and second Essential Phone were saved quite a few times from a drop on concrete thanks to a TPU will tall enough lip protection. My Essential Phone fell hard one time after taking my second covid shot. Made a loud sound and had people looking at me inside the Nixon Library. Not a single scratch or dent.

The only thing I don't like is how the lip protection for my Flip 3 and Razr 5G are non-existent. But I guess since they're both clamshells, it shouldn't matter. I know it can get annoying having to flip open your phone but you'll get used to it. Foldables especially clamshells naturally have the best screen protection. Don't care if the outer display cracks. The most expensive is the inner one.

GSMArena should hire you to be honest. You can definitely write great articles.

Factory installed screen protector and TPU-type cases especially from Spigen.

Since completely shattering my $224 Essential Phone back in June 13, 2019, I went back using cases. For 10 years, I refused to. Thought they added too much bulk and took away the beauty of the design. I only used holster cases but most of my phones were in mint until that fateful day

I still get annoyed with dust gathering up on the corners but I've been kinda addicted buying cases for my phones. I enjoy the search finding a good one. I think 7 of my 9 phones have a case including an old Bold 9900. Only my Nexus 5 and Xiaomi Mi 3 don't have one.

Have an Araree Aero Flex for my Flip 3 and love it. The hinge protection doesn't get stuck like the VRS Active. And love the soft touch. And got a $20 case for my Razr 5G which is also soft and improved the comfort being the Razr feels quite on the sides without a case. Came with a belt clip.

I don't like screen protectors, love thin cases. to be honest I like wear in my devices. scratches and dents are fine with me, as long as there are no cracks.

I have a huawei p20 lite and my back glass is frankly quite fragile. So u put a case but the first one ehehe I kind of u know its nothing. And then the second one which is very buetiful case which has silicone or plastic idk on outside and a sheet of paper or plastic on inside where the diamond ish design is.

I cant break my a52 screen only to spend about 70% of the price to buy a new screen. Samsung screens are super expensive to replace

I do use a case all the time though, it's just usually a wallet case. I can use it as a kickstand, and also only need to worry about taking one thing in my pockets with me when shopping.

If my phone has a scratch even like thinniest hair. It will ruins all my experience using smartphone and olephobic coating is so fragile. Swiping up to unlock your phone and scrolling everyday will tears the coating and it won't feel nice anymore. So protection is a must because smartphone is not cheap you know...

No screen protectors for me, though once my devices get scratched enough, I will apply some Whitestone Dome Glass. I prefer the seamless touch of the original glass but out of necessity, that is the only one I will put on my devices. Moreover, they work perfectly with the ultrasonic fingerprint scanners in Samsung phones.

I often use my phone without a case. I bought a premium device with premium materials and I sure will enjoy them. Over a year with my Note20 Ultra, the back has absolutely zero scratches despite a few drops, which the stainless steel has absorbed perfectly. The front glass has some light scratches but nowhere near as bad as after one year with my Note9. Victus was a great leap forward. Thanks Corning.

Seen people have cracked screens/backs even with their case on.
It even was a thick looking case, but she couldn't stop dropping her phone.

Never had a case or a screen protector on my 3+ year old phone and it's still in mint condition

After I got a phone with slightly curved screen, having a screen protector that only partially covered the screen was pain to use and look at. Ditched it, and it was a right decision. Just minor scratches on the glass, and much more refreshing experience. For the case, since I don't drop phones, it's only to avoid scratches when placed on a surface.

Why would one put a case on a glass-back phone? It will ruins the esthetic and waste of money on a hidden luxury detail. I would buy plastic/aluminium back instead.
