EU denies Apple allegations that moving to USB-C will stifle innovation

IDK if Apple switching to USB-C will reduce e-waste or not but it will definitely reduce their profits and that is the precise reason why they are refraining to move on to it, saying it will stifle competition or create big piles of e-waste and so on. With all iPhones finally having a USB-C port, their customers will only benefit from low third-party cable price instead of the very weakly built one from Apple that is made to break soon. Also they will get no money from royalties which they ask from lightning cable manufacturers so these are the actual reasons why they are against the shift. They want the environment change but obviously not at the cost of their own profits

Apple should have switched to USB-C way back during the iPhone 7. They don't care that in 2021 its a very slow and ineffective method of transfer/charge. They're making free money every single year from licensing it and they will fight to the last to keep lightning and keep making that free cash.

Your Neighbour, 15 Oct 2021stiffle innovation ?? LMAO
People see no innovation again ... moreYou wanted to say YOU don't see any innovation. It's weird how people after all these years still don't understand Apple and their releasing schedules. They only release products once a year and they release few models. And that's it. They aren't Samsung or Xiaomi that has 15.000 models across price range of 50-1500 USD and they cover each price step 20 times over by just spamming models to the market through every year.
I don't know, people are so shocked with Apple's "innovation", yet, do you people buy new car every single year too? Or do you skip few models and then buy one again? No one forces you to buy latest and greatest iPhone. I'm still with iPhone XR. It's fast, it has good image, good sound, makes good photos, I don't have any issues with it and I get excellent software support and years more to come. I'll probably upgrade with iPhone 14 or 15. And even that is not guaranteed it'll be an iPhone. It's possible I'll buy Android. I'm not bound to any brand and that applies to Apple. They just happen to offer best package of HW and SW as whole for me.

O m f g this is really funny, Apple thinks everyone is s t u p i d or.
I hope soon Europe will demand it to happen or kick out this strange brand with a totally weird way to think and lie, get rid of Apple in Europe then.
Apple behaves like a spoiled pregnant girl... Always acting like a primadonna.
Again i really can't understand why people buy their products...

Apple want to offer ProRes video, but keep lightning (based on usb c 2.0).
Depends on how long you record, you may later need over 6 hours to transfer your footage from iphone to laptop.
USB 3.1 can save you tons of time.

It's not about innovation but locking down people in a walled garden. One standard is just greener, just choose the more open and better one.

Makes no sense what Apple is saying when they're one of the early adopters for USB-C. Was on their MacBooks as standard over 5 years ago. Then eventually iPads got them.
Next year, expect iPhone 14 to get MagSafe charging. No more Lightning from 2012 but no USB-C either. Thank goodness they have wireless charging since the 8.
