ABG Media, 17 Oct 2021Absolutely not... Snapdragon 898 launches 2-3 months later.... moreLol, iPhone came before android apple release cycle started started before snapdragons one. Snapped dragon didn’t have a yearly release cycle before the android raise.
So absolutely not, apple has the edge. Also even the new snapdragon, sometime are barely higher than apples cpu. And in the tablet word apple destroys snapdragon. Even last years apple CPU outperforms new snapdragons. Let alone the M1

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2021"pop up camera" rip IP rating1: Not everyone need or care about IP rating, and most of those who want pop up probably couldn't care less about it, and many would rather trade off IP rating for full screen.

2: Even without pop up, many phones didn't have IP rating for a while, and it basically never caused any issues.

3: IP rating is over-rated and useless, in fact it is detrimental, people think it is waterproof, while it clearly isn't, the result is people uselessly risking their phones with liquids, which in turn caused quite ironically that there are much more reports for most IP67 or IP68 rated phones killed by water than phones with pop up both in total and as percent, where people are simply careful enough as anyone should be with any electronic device.
I've never felt restricted with my Poco F2 Pro and what I could do with it despite this.

4: IP rating isn't what makes a phone water-resistant or not, in fact the test is only carried out on few many devices, it can't do anything about factory defects, it is accounting only a SINGLE liquid exposure that isn't meant to be repeated, with filtered tap water without particles or dusts, at room temperature, with a brand-new phone, doesn't account for wear of the joints, and in lab conditions where the phone isn't moving at all nor under any kind of stress other than the water jet or water pressure.
By the way IPx4/x5/x6 and IPx7/x8 are NOT the same, a device rated for water jet is not rated for immersion and one rated for immersion is not rated for water jet.

5: I've never seen any issues caused by the dust aspect, the dust is only an issue with conductive particles, such as workshop particles, but everyday's life dust don't kill phones, in fact, anyone who repair PC will tell you how dirty some computer becomes and except for bad thermal efficiency because of poor airflow or convection, the computers are still working totally fine.

6: It is totally possible to make a pop up that is not only IP68 compliant, but in fact, it can be totally water proof and properly sealed, the whole darn Galaxy Fold3 who basically is in two moving parts is IP68 rated, and all IP68 rated phones have SIM tray, it doesn't require a genius to understand that regular pop up camera can be made IP68 compliant.
And better solutions like having it being outside the phone's body/in its own separated room/container/slot is a simple and easy one, in fact it is a no-brainer one that should have been done since the beginning.
I literally made a fictional concept smartphone containing futuristic techs around the idea of an improved and totally waterproof pop up :
        https://imgur.com/gallery/ykYfaa6

7: IP rated phones still dies regularly from liquids and absolutely none of the big brands (Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony, Huawei, Nokia, LG, Google, Honor, Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, Vivo, ZTE, Meizu, Asus, Vivo, Microsoft, Motorola, Lenovo, Acer, HTC, etc) cover in non-paid extended guarantee any kind of water damages, either directly considering them as non-covered or indirectly covering accidental falls and spills.

8: If you don't want a phone with pop up, just buy one of the bazillion phone available that have something else, no need to systematically spit on it.

Did you know that the Note 20 Ultra already has almost no side and top bezels?
By the time apple decides to go with a hole.punch, Galaxy may already have a under display front camera. And I doubt that Apple will ditch face id, so it's gonna take a while for them to figure a way around that.

Apple is the one behind by launching their new processors in q4 every year.

This is why kirin and a14 were 5nm while Snapdragon 865 was based on 7nm.
Even though the year was same, the Snapdragon 855 was almost 12 months old when people actually got their hands on apple 14 chip last year.

For Pete's sake it's high time ph makes bring out wider phs instead of narrow, skinny tall units. Wonder why even went for these!!

I consider width very important for comfort while holding the phone.

Device width of 75mm is too wide for me. I think 70-71 is the sweet spot. Even in the zenfone 8 presentation they gave that number

Apple's less flexible operating system and still limited user interface is OK on the tablet because I only use that for a few specific tasks (where it's really one specific app and the less elongated screen that make it better for me), but I know I would find them too constrained for a phone. Conversely I don't give a damn about "promotion" (and my tablet has it, so again I'm talking from experience).

You clearly feel otherwise, which is fine. But don't assume you can speak for everyone.
