Or maybe less than expected sales since iPhone 14 will have a completely more palatable design than a notched one.

Is that ^ (by any chance) the research arm of Apple ?...

As for everything else you have said, It's a know and regular tactic that Apple has employed on many an occasion, and on quite a regular basis, and it has worked well for them too. Just hope (for Apple's sake) that their loyal fans have not wised up to this tactic, yet, as that could upset many if they are unknowingly been withheld from purchasing their greatly anticipated tech...

Trooper, 08 Nov 2021Create a perceived shortage, and this will increase demand.... moreNot a perceived shortage. An actual shortage and a disaster for apple. I work in this industry so have to listen to the moaning daily. Apole customers whose loyalty is already tenuous are canceling orders and switching in some cases to Android. I have worked in this industry for 9 years and never seen the likes of this. It's crazy. Incidentally, every year October to December are peak months for apple sales with black Friday and Xmas. This is definitely hurting apple and 100℅ not planned. They've even shelved a new iPad model to try and use the chips to try catch up on production of the iPhone 13 pro and pro max.

Marketing move for sure...they are doing this because they know sales goes down after christmas, and if they limit production now, on february the demand will increase and the Q1 results for 2022 wont be as bad as last year.

Yeah, phone could be the best of the pool, with SoC a year ahead of competition, super optimized and 5 years support but people will still complain about his notch

I tried the iPhone 13 Pro Max.. It's too heavy and wide. Not very comfortable to use.
Don't want the 13 pro as it has smaller screen.

Trooper, 08 Nov 2021Create a perceived shortage, and this will increase demand.... moreThere's always demand for Apple products.

An artificial limit of the product will make them lose money (as they already said in the recent Q3 (?) earnings call).

Who cares if a low quality product is available or not?
People will happily buy available android flagships which are better everywhere.

Only when they get rid of that ugly notch i'll add to the shortage. Until there, nah...

Waiting for the Apple Glasses. That can make people use their phones less. And people who don't wear glasses will still buy them for the convenience. Won't have a camera which is understandable. Augmented reality is the future.

Phones have plateaud. The next big thing is something you wear. There is a ton more room to grow from wearables. Smart glasses will be useful than smart watches. We can walk around like Tony Stark or handle apps like Tom Cruise in Minority Report.

It's weird to read of shortages when I got mine on launch day a few hours earlier than the specified time.
