Anonymous, 24 Nov 2021Processed raw, not real raw. Pixel's HDR+ RAW does not have any post-processing baked in.

With that said, it would make a lot more sense for Samsung to port the entire set of features into the app as soon as the testing phase is over.

So the information still needs to be interpolated from neighboring pixels, which will cause the banding.

Given how much less effective OIS generally was on a phone camera back in 2013 (Think about it, it's literally an 8-year-old article - things have changed a lot since then) and how G2 set the shutter speed way too long in low light which resulted in blurred shots in their studio, I don't disagree with the conclusion GSMArena made AT THAT TIME through their own testing.

          "OIS is useless for video"
Hybrid stabilisation is always superior to pure EIS - there are fewer pixels to be wasted to achieve the same level of stabilisation since OIS stabilises the footage to some extent before EIS does its job by cropping each frame. This is one of the reasons why Google decided to use OIS on Pixel 2 even if it meant that a smaller sensor had to be used.

Yes, it does matter, if it's done by software then a RAW file would only be 108MP since that's what the sensor captures before binning.

"It's binning the subpixels to work as the 12MP sensor it's designed to mimic."

I know how binning works, It has its advantages and disadvantages.

Mapantz, 24 Nov 2021What is disappointing about this app is that 'RAW'... morea lot of phone RAW files look absolute garbage when taken, even trying to edit them in lightroom shows off all the terrible compression and all the other lack of editing that takes place in the phone, you can never replicate the jpeg quality on the RAW file in editing software

There will be two apps like 1ii.

If you want to add stuff to an app that already exists, you do not need to create another app just to test functions to later transfer to the other app.

Ya but this isn't done on the hardware level is it? It would be done through software and if you shoot RAW then it should only shoot at the 108MP, unless I'm confusing something about the QB sensor

This beta is only available on some phones in a handful countries. So, having it in a separate app is pretty essential for it to work as a beta.
