There are many variants of mobile RTX3080 and the article says manufacturers won't let you know which one they put into the laptop. As a general rule of thumb, you get what you pay for. The higher price, the higher the RTX3080 performance.

And besides games that is heavy on DX12 (mac use Metal), what other apps you run is as competitive on a laptop? Considering price, power consumption, weight and battery life?

      Yeah, throw tons of handicap at it, run native vs emulate Rosetta 2.

      Once these Windows ARM laptops hit the market, they will face the same issue having to emulate x86. But i guess, people will give excuses the same as above.

      There is no drugs, M1 Max and Pros are excellent machine, and definitely beats 3080 when you know how and what you use it for.

                  It's funny how everyone became content creators once the Apple M1 got released....

                  How the hell can you make the Apple M1 seem like an entry-level CPU, when you basically need to spend twice the money to get a similar MacBook Air/Pro with the same amount of RAM and storage as a Windows laptop with a Ryzen 7?

                        Looking at the leaks, this new SD chip is not even on par with Intel 1165 i7 mobile cpu. If windows performance laptop is what you are after, you'll have to get a i9 11900k type of laptop coupled with a high power 115W mobile RTX3080 to be satisfied. That will be big and heavy and expensive and sucks a lot of power. Having an ext GPU is not cheap either, looking at today's gpu prices. While you're at it, max out the ram to 64GB too.

                                  But, it can finally stand a chance against the base M1, on the macbook air and 13 inch pro.

                                  Most people are going to buy laptops that are priced like the M1 macbook air and pro anyways.

                                  Qualcomm is far away from competing in the pro segment.

                                    Have you even got those benchmarks? Or just cooking things from thin air and using your imagination trolling?

                                    Looking at how well the M1 Max handles Davinci layers and effects, and Premiere Pro layers and effects, and After Effects, I am very confident the mac will do very well in those areas you mentioned. Why? Becos' the crippling thing right now is Intel and those external ram sticks. It will take next gen after Alder Lake and Zen 4 to beat the current M1, and by then the M2 will be borned.

                                    The M1 is a technological breakthrough. Intel has been milking customers with marginal improvement for the longest time. AMD came and show Intel what can be done for less money. Apple came and show what can be done by breaking away from x86. If you guys cannot see this, or recognise this, then you guys deserved to continue be milked by Intel.
