17 January 2022
The feature was available on previous generation iPhones for over a decade.

Wrong, there is same amount of mics than before. Also i can’t really notice any difference in calls compared to by my earlier iPhones. That’s why i thought such a feature would have been off by default and not on because i haven’t noticed any difference.

I think it’s more this it’s gone as a toggle thing. If the quality would be worse or something noticable, many would have noticed it by now, let’s not forget these phones are sold in tens of millions already.

This is a very important feature and removing it defiantely will affect the performance of the phones on calls. Wondering if this will affect on the SE editions

Was this just a change in software? Or is the actual hardware removed, too?

Which is actually a good question, since the hardware might be the same (since Apple loves sharing components whenever possible) but the software side might not be implemented yet.

I mean, why would you ever disable this anyway? So, following that logic, removing the menu toggle just makes sense. Yeah, I can't wait to see the actual explanation because this news brings up more questions than answers even though the news says "Apple confirms". Confirms what exactly? Removal of menu toggle or function itself? Coz if someone just noticed rmeoval of the toggle and feature is still there doing noise cancelation, who cares?

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2022Are you sure it's some sort of separate accessibility ... moreYou are right, had to find my old iPhone X and it has that feature enabled. Haven’t noticed any difference after iPhone 13 Pro. And if anyone haven’t noticed any difference quite safe to say it doesn’t make much difference. Maybe it’s just don’t needed anymore to turn it off or not. Interesting to see if Apple comments this someday, but really haven’t noticed any difference with this 13 Pro, but i want to learn more about this subject.

-Trix-, 17 Jan 2022Based on the comments, does people even understand this art... moreAre you sure it's some sort of separate accessibility feature? I just checked on my iPhone XR with iOS 15.2.1 (latest at the moment) and I do have Phone Noise Cancelation under Accessibility -> Audio/Visual and it's enabled by default. Description matches what noise cancelation is meant for, regular calls in noisy environments.

Based on the comments, does people even understand this article? This feature never meant to be used by regular people, it’s buried deep in accessibility settings. Using this would make more harm than good for everyday use. Still wondering why Apple removed it, but have anyone actually ever used it? It would be inside phone settings if it’s meant to be used normally.

I think i need to borrow my dad old iPhone just to try this because propably 99,9% of users didn’t even know they have this option and it’s disabled by default and it’s a good thing.

You just buy an iBox for $999 for an iDea of a phone and you get iAir as a free accessory inside the iBox. Want more iAir? Pay $1199. Want more iAir? $1399. Want maximum iAir? That's $1599. **T&C applied.

**iPhone, iLighting, iEarphone sold separately if you can mortgage your house.

It's just to hide the background noise when someone is listening to your conversation 😂

they're obviously doing it for people to but noise cancelling earphones from them. Apple do it all the time, remove a feature, sell a solution. the headphone jack is the prime example, removing the charging brick and now this. I'm certain, many more practical features would be removed in the near future

I find it very funny that people still support this company despite their very anti consumer practices.

can it be enabled via software update? provided there is hardware that can do the missing function.

But you just can't help yourselves, can you? Typical GSMArena moment.

I am not a fanboy of one or another, but the people that give their money to Apple without no questions asked, deserve worse. And listen to what I say to you now, Apple will slowly eliminate many features that come as standard now on all phones, call them a premium and charge extra and the higher the model, the more expensive they will be. It's started already but the producer will come upon stage and herald a "gamechanger" 4000 MA battery and a 120 HZ display and pacify the fans that start to become unhappy. Even worse, the hard fans will attack anyone else that say different, no matter how logical the motives are, so I'll stop here and hope to avoid a beating. I really hope the Chinese makers will give all these "giants" a real good run for their money, because they are really closing the gap anyway.
