Weekly poll: are you using 5G on your phone?

23 January 2022
Recently launched phones typically support 5G and many carriers  already have 5G networks. But coverage is far from 100%.

There are plenty of mistakes on that map.
Here in Slovakia only a capital city Bratislava have 5G network and only in Petrzalka district which is about 120 000 people. Rest of 600 000 population city is on 4G or 4G+.
Most carriers said there will be 5G network within 2 years but only in towns or cities which are above 50 000 population. Apart the capitol Bratislava it will be like 8 more cities whole country will run on 4G for maybe next 5-10 years or so.
Here is everything slow because greedy gowernment rob innocent people and there are no money to build important things.
Only a highway from capitol city Bratislava on one east side of country to the most populated town Kosice around 250 000 people on west side of country like 450 kilometres by plane is build from 1996 and now is 2022 and still is nowhere close to be build completely. So as long as my country will be driven by greedy people which take from everyone and keeps for themselves we have low to bare minimum chance for 5G network or anything else which doesnt ruin innocent people of Slovakia.
151 people of country lives like on high heels and rest of the people live from one wages or monthly salary to another,

    Apple iPhone 12 mini
    Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
    Motorola Razr 5G

I'm on my third 5G phone, and honestly, you are not missing out if you don't have one yet. I actually switch it to 4G to save battery because I see no difference in speed. At times, LTE downloads much faster. This 5G stuff is still a gimmick. Create a higher number for us to buy. It's something carriers do every 10 years to keep us upgrading. If 3G lasted 20 years, 4G will last another 10. LTE isn't going anywhere.

5G is harmful to health with the radiation it emits (if scientists were not paid by multinational companies they would say so). I will never get a 5C device.

I have 5g on my phone but I don't use it. Is draining my battery much more than 4g+ and for normal usage (I don't download movies on the street, I don't play games on the street etc) is much more convenient.

Mine is on 4G. 5g is useless for my everyday usage, like for 99.999% of population.

Yes I use 5G in Tehran (IRAN) with my Poco X3 GT

one of the biggest carriers in my country (Indonesia) will shut off 3G later this year. 5G already exists in several big cities, I think 5G will soon be out in other cities. Too bad 5G phones are still expensive.

Would not use 5g even if available, don't need it.

I'm on 5G every day in the US in my city...it's pretty much all I ever see unless I'm in a very rural area. At my home there's literally low band, mid band and ultra wide band coverage. This ranges in speed from 100mbps to 2gbps(UW speed).

Vic4BBM, 23 Jan 2022India has no 5g network availability commercially. But OPP... moreYou clearly don't understand how SoC integration and manufacturing works lol. Not to mention why you think advancement in technology should take a back seat just because your country is behind on its deployment.

If we had 5G on my country it would still be slower than LTE.
Because our LTE speeds are slower than other countries anyways. 🥴

I'd rather have stable 4G that would always work above 100Mbps.
If I had 5G here, would not use.

I have a 5G phone, but have disabled it. There are some real concerns about 5G, have not been no addressed. Then Covid happened and the 5G issue got hijacked and it ended in the hands of conspiracy theorists.

There is a clip of a US Senetaor Blumenthal at a Senate hearing, where he ask if the industry has done any research on safety.

Blumenthal asked them whether they have supported research on the safety of 5G technology and potential links between radio frequency and cancer, and the industry representatives conceded they have not.

The latest 5g wireless technologies reply on more transmitters, unlike say previous 2G and 3G technology.

They are even putting up 5G satellites in space....

India has no 5g network availability commercially.
But OPPO VIVO REALME ONE+ XIAOMI have launched 5g enabled phones in India in past few years . God knows why and people are buying it like crazy by paying premium.

How many of these will be useful by the time 5g launches actually in the country?
