They change the screen to black and white because black on OLED screens (most of the screens Samsung uses) actually completely disables the pixels of the black area, so it uses effectively 0 battery for that screen portion.
Try using an all white theme for a week and a black theme for a week, you will have at least 1h more battery with the dark one.

"Vivid" or "rich" color options affect battery more than "natural" or "weak" colors. That being said I like my colors so I have the vidid display setting.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2022Is A52 affected? I've not noticed any issue or slowdown.If you have the "game optimizing service" in your phone, then it is. I have it in my Galaxy M12 and Note 20 Ultra so I imagine it is in every single phone. But it's not about slowdowns, the service just reduces performance so the battery consumption isn't too high. It doesn't slow down your phone on purpose unless the battery consumption became very high and your device heated up. You would actually notice slowdowns if the "game optimizing service" wasn't there because the processor would throttle the power down by itself and performance wouldn't be the same, it would be high for a short time and then very low until your phone cooled down. What I think happens next is that they build the service into the firmware itself without a special app running so no one complains.

remembered years ago reading about chips getting smaller / power efficient & cooler but be more & more powerful. present day - all mentioned above is happening but it's also power hungry & produces lots of heat. Samsung from years of using its phone it has very poor expertise on cooling that's for sure. even one of its early bud has issues on hot day

[deleted post]Because virus is not miraculously gone and companies still have certain prevention measures in place. We still have mandatory masks where I work even though they are not required in a lot of other places. You really picked the lowest hanging fruit here to complain about.
