Anonymous, 16 Mar 2022What's going on? First OnePlus now samsung is throttli... moreThey do it mostly for battery life. This flagship chipsets from SD (like the SD888 or SD 8 gen 1) are not that good for battery life. And is the fault of Samsung too.
Especially now, that the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the king of battery endurance. All the other manufacturers are just trying to catch up. So, is only normal they are trying different ways to increase the battery endurance.
That is why I bought a SD870 phone. For me this is the true flagship chipset from SD in the last 2 years. Taking into consideration the battery life, heat dissipation and consistency in games. I am waiting for the new Dimensity chipsets phones for 2022, to see how much better they will be.

That one is charging the phone in 100-120 minutes or something like that. Lol. Is good to have it in the box, only if at some point your normal 25W or 45W (for S22 series and Note 10+) is not working anymore. Otherwise, is pretty useless.

You better fix the issues on the SS22 ultra exynos, cannot even watch videos because of the audio is not synchronize.. come on samsung

Both are 8,9... moreThe S22 Ultra is 2mm shorter but they downgraded both telephoto lenses' to smaller sensors, maybe that's how they were able to do that, then 2mm wider and thinner frame to fit the S Pen, seems doable.
I'm talking about speakers and battery size because, from Galaxy S10 to S20, the jack was gone but battery gone bigger, from Galaxy S20 to S21, the microSD slot has gone missing but the top speaker sounded better to my ear.

Good for Sony, I just hope it won't bend like the OnePlus 10 Pro.

sadh, 16 Mar 2022Lol tbh i used S21 and didn't feel getting a throttled... moreThe truth is most people don't notice it. They're complaining because third party software and hardware tests show the phone is not reaching and maintaining high refresh rates. High means between 50-60 frames at best. I have not actually seen anyone get 120hz frames on any game on any mobile phone despite the settings or capabilities of that phone. I haven't even seen 90 frames. This is about F.O.M.O.

                          Remove the GOS first.

Shadocx, 16 Mar 2022Bringing back the 3.5mm jack and microSD slot will probably... moreA headphone jack and microSD slot use so little space it would make no difference if they use the space wisely and place the components to not get in the way or build battery/speakers around it. I mean something like a pen in the S22U uses a lot more than a jack and they still managed to put a decent battery in it. The sim/sd tray is rather flat and it's not like the jack reaches very far into the device. A battery the size of the headphone jack would probably barely hold 50 mAh... You can get this space back by just build the device 0.25mm or so thicker. It's all an excuse to lure people into the more expensive variant with more internal memory, even if a microSD serves more than well enough for media files expansion storage. So the speed argument is another wrong excuse who some bring up all the time. The same as waterproofness with the jack: it's totally possible to build a jack water tight. Sony does this since its 2013 phones. It's really just a strategy to save a buck here and there by the manufacturers... And sell expensive higher internal storage and glued together TWS earbuds which are not repairable once the battery dies slowly after 3 years... Very environmentally friendly and guess which brand started this trend..? It's not samsung, but they follow every dumb move unfortunately. With all the "smart" devices out there, the people really don't seem to get any smarter, rather it's the other way around, sadly.

I prefer Huawei and Xiaomi's Game Optimization approach. On the other hand, Apple doesn't have this kind of feature. Kind of impressive how they optimize their software and hardware to achieve excellent performance... I hope Android Manufacturers can learn from that.

I don't know if it's being throttled even when I have the setting on "focus on performance", but I am speculating that it's a complete accident or malicious for what the following behavior is:

Genshin Impact (Google Play) is being shown running at 61fps using GPUWatcher in Android developer settings WITH GOS enabled no matter what iirc. Even on lowest settings and looking down, the stuttering feels like the game is running at 30fps. HOWEVER, the Galaxy Store version isn't affected by these stuttering issues at all.

To confirm this is GOS at fault, I went to apps in system settings, enabled show system apps, found "Game optimizing service", tapped force stop, and immediately went to app switcher and back into Genshin Impact (Google Play). The stuttering issues were completely absent. I was running Android 11, but Android 12 might block this workaround.

I don't know if this is still an issue, but I found that to be the case in December, 2021 when I tested it.

If this was implemented maliciously, then this could make the user think that the Galaxy Store version of Genshin Impact is faster, when the issue wan't the game, it was GOS.

Removing all permissions of GOS doesn't stop it. Disabling the app through ADB or uninstalling it though ADB doesn't work. It just re-enables itself.

If you let me completely disable GOS in system settings (no greyed out disable icon), then I will be fine with it. I don't even want this running.

Both are 8,9mm thick (cam bump does not count).
Samsung was able to fit a pen in there while keeping same 5.000mAh.

It has nothing to do with size of battery or speaker quality. Upcoming Sony 1iv with 5000mAh inside narrower phone, slimmer phone and same height has sd slot and jack.

Reason is simple. How much R&D money can samsung save by not having to create solutions to find space inside the phone for jack and sd slot?

                                        Answer: huge money

Also, these brands charger usually at $70-150 for version of more storage, when memory is super cheap.
