Anything without a notch or hole preferably OLED 120hz with a squared off design 19:8 to 21:9 is perfect for me i don't like rounded corners

Actually, higher refresh rate (90hz, 120hz, 144hz and higher) on a small screen is a waste and not really an advantage. Sure it's a lot smoother than 60hz panel, but do you actually really (and i mean really) need it so much? It's an Android/iOS, not a Windows. I don't really understand why this is necessary, other than reducing battery live.

get me a 10bit 4k 90hz AMOLED flat screen with DC dimming and HDR feature covered with toughened glass

1170-1440p depending on the display size, AMOLED, 120Hz, either curved or flat display is fine (although I prefer the latter), HDR/10-bit colour support + toughened glass would be nice.

I can't understand why people would prefer OLED over IPS LCD when they are notoriously known for screen burn-in, especially with lower grade panels on budget phones, and expensive to repair. I'd rather have IPS LCD instead as it shows way better endurance and longevity than OLED and cost less to repair.

Fake resolution isn't the same as actual resolution, and therefore your point is useless. All those tests have been done on high resolution screens with just lowered resolution, and therefore the power consumption is the same. It's still the same high resolution screen, just set up to show bigger pixels.

NBMSCH, 05 Jun 2022Xperia 1 III /IV / Pro-i is perfect for me The sound is horrible. Color handling is even worse. Try to watch Tokyo drift on the phone. The Asian skin really gets the yellow glow. And everyone you talk to over the phone, hear everything around you, because the duo mics can't reduce the noise. But the screen doesn't have round corners!

What about aspect ratio? it's very important too. I'm old school, and I prefer 16:9, as it's still the best way to watch videos, as most of the content is not optimized for ultrawide, and when you zoom to fill, you crop, and lose content.

Curved display is also a gimmick to virtually minimize the bezels, by deforming the content.

Never LCD because I like the infinite black.

As for the refresh rate I find 90 Hz more than enough to have smooth transitions, anything above is overkill and marketing, ruins the battery and performance, and raises the total cost of the phone.

So for me, I'd be happy with a modern 16:9 big amoled flat display with 90 Hz and just a HD+ resolution.

Gaming at a high refresh rate is prioritized over resolution - low the res and the game will feel more fluid. Rendering at lower res also extends the battery life.

Plus the Steam deck and Switch are not Pentile Matrix Displays, e.g. RG or BG for each pixel compared to true RGB. Wanting a 720p AMOLED is asking for 480p true OLED or LCD, with the amount of Red or Blue sub pixel (2/3 of the norm)

Phone should be wider and bigger, the note is still at 3" width, and I am hoping to see the move to 3.4" or more, as to get a 6.9 to 8.6 inch depending on the aspect ratio (16:9 to 21:9).

fhd for 6.5 and below, qhd above that. 4k is useless for small screens beside it being a battery hog

My ideal phone sould start with the Pixel 4a, increase the resolution to QHD+, use a processor with decent performance (like Tensor, SD870 / 778, D1100 / 1200 / 8100), use a better dual camera setup, and change to a glass back. I'm actually fine with the plastic frame, but a metal one would be better. I haven't spent over $500 on a phone since 2015, but I would be willing to for something like that. Thankfully the Pixel 6a will give me a lot of this for $449 so I can run with that too.

Samath N8 808 owner, 05 Jun 2022Ok, I voted. Out of 5 questions, 3 are in conjunction with ... moreFor me flat is important so you can buy a tempered glass screen protector that actually fits. The next reason is that a curved screen doesn't actually add anything to the experience. The manufacturer will say it's a 6.7" screen in a slimmer profile, but really the pixels on the sides are discolored by the curve so is it really an improvement?

                                      1080p 60hz OLED with a good impact-resistant glass. I don't need more than that.

This is probably the best poll GSM Arena has done in ages! I have 2 points of nuance not reflected in the poll. My Nexus 6 back in 2015 had a quad HD AMOLED for $650. I do want a quad HD display, but I am not willing to pay more than that 2015 cost just to get it. Second... I answered don't care in the refresh rate section. I have had phones with 120Hz displays and the fact of the matter is I only notice it when trying to notice it. I don't feel any difference or advantage over 60Hz when using my phone normally. I would love HRR on a phone, but I am NOT willing to pay extra for it since it doesn't improve my experience in any meaningful way. Finally, the biggest limiting factor is that mobile games almost all require a whitelist for frame rates higher than 60fps. So even if you have a phone that can run the game higher it will not be possible unless you have a very popular phone or a phone where the manufacturer spent the extra time and money to ensure games whitelist their phone.
