Camera resolutions keep rising, phones can now record 8K video, mobile apps are becoming more complex - all of that takes up more and more space on your phone.

    next could be Charging adapter (from all type of segment like budget phones, flagship killer and so on), Simcard Slot, Sim ejector, USB-cables, maybe ? :|

    I hope someone stop them & make it a law to include all basic requirements that comes on the phone or in side the box..... :(

    just take an example of charging adapter, iphone said, because of that box size increase & usage of extra material which can be harmful (understandable, but they should ave given option to give back the old adapter and get a new 1 which can help them more to save mother earth, make less usage of plastic & other materials + old charger bricks can be recycled instead of asking customer to purchase a complete new which comes with new box and customer has to pay for it -_-

    same goes for earphones, they want use to buy bluetooth and so they do not offer earphones anymore and so as well as, for sd card slot, they wanna make more money and hence, they want use to pay $50 to $100/$150 or $200 extra for a phone which comes with higher high internal memory capacity or replace the old phone with new even when the old phne was functionaling very well and we just had issue with storage, like is it not easy to buy sd card which is cheap & we have a permanent storage & backup of our own files ?

    they are stealing our money, harming more the environment......... very sad & dangerous for everyone.

        If this is how you guys argue, then god bless our future because its looking grim.. I'm surrounded by less IQ people who want a slot removed, even though its not causing an actual problem to anyone.

        But yes, you're partially right. We're definitely losing... (not the argument itself, but the power of consumer).

No anti-virus or stuff like that, because it slows down the system. I don't accept more than 5 seconds boot time into windows/linux, from full power off. And I never use Defrag, neither should you.

              As for your speed obsession: 99.99% of the people who use the SD card is just STORING data. They're not running shell scripts, deciphering passwords or any other geeky stuff. And even if you would be doing those things (which I highly doubt is your case), you'd be running them from a command terminal app which is by default installed on the internal memory.
              The most memory demanding thing you can do with an SD card is maybe watching a video from it, but you wouldn't notice any difference.
              If you don't want an SD card card in your phone, nobody is foring you to insert one in the slot. It's that easy. No 🧠er.

                    And one more surprise for you:- If you're low on internal storage, like above 95%, then a microSD can share the load and actually speed up your phone... Yes, a microSD can help you speed up in many use cases.
                    And it never slows down the phone. The essentials of a phone are within ROM and internal memory. A bunch of old pics and vids don't slow the phone, your OS is not that stupid.

                    In fact, modern Android phones have a cache of thumbnails (for gallery, its a one time process) so the slowing down never even happens.

                    Videos by youtubers also agree with me, they just say you need to avoid a fake card. Which I guess you couldn't avoid in the past... that's why you complain.

                    Again, you naysayers haven't said one thing that's logical or worthwhile in favour of removing the card slot.

Also just like most phones are likely to be damaged instead of stolen, similarly most people have less knowledge about encryption of their SD cards.

                                        I find SD cards useful, for movie and music storage. Offline maps and more.

                                        Not everyone has unlimited data plans with great reception.

                                        One has to ask, if Samsung or others scrap micro SD card slots for phones. Why are they researching and and manufacturing micro SDs?

                                        Some people want to pay for streaming services, others do not. Focusing on pushing people towards streaming platforms is not the way to go IMHO.
