12MP sensors as far as the eye can see. We kid, we kid. Apple actually brings new tech to iPhones, at least the Plus/Pro versions.

And just like that, the most commented article of the day is about Apple. The hater obsession is real.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2022Only dofferent thing iphone does for video is to by default... moreOverall image quality at the raw level has been definitely improved from OG Pixel to Pixel 6, although the latter goes haywire with sharpening and reducing noise in low frequency details. If you compare the dng files the difference would be a day and night.

Apple uses both HEIF and HEVC formats which are nightmare formats read on Android smartphone only, they're fake-produced MP plus, bigger filesize that nothing can do due to iPhone had no card slot, so nobody talks about it. I hate need converting to store on GPhotos. Hence, why I don't buy iPhones any more (My former device info will not be shown), they keep making things complicated like sticking to Lightning for more than decade then removing features like headphone jack and chargers (Well, is this supposed to be "environmental friendly", so I remember this controversy). I could care less how good the cameras are with iPhones if they force us with HEIF and HEVC over the commonly used JP(E)G and MP4/MKV.

Also you could always change in the settings which format iphone takes pictures in, regular JPEG like most other phone does use is there.

The Flip, 26 Jun 2022Apple uses HEIF and HEVC formats which are nightmare format... moreHEVC or H.265 is pretty good imo when it comes to Video since Large Videos that would normally be 100+GB in size is just 10GB or less without losing too much quality. It has the best compression rate. It was a nightmare trying to find a UHD TV in 2016 that supported that format but in 2022 it wasn't as much a big deal since most TVs support it now. HEVC should be the new video standard and we should leave MKV as standard but still maybe use it in small videos

This is one of the areas that apple has done right.

                        Not much to see.
As long as Apple will not support the SD card slots they will never use more MPix for their cameras.
Because larger MPix more proccesing it needs and more storage will each of the photo will require.
So Samsung 200 Mpix sensor will make let say 25 megabyets pictures and thats something apple will never use.
They will stick to 12 Mpix for next milenia.

The Flip, 26 Jun 2022Apple uses HEIF and HEVC formats which are nightmare format... moreThis is google's fault.

Majority of phones above $200 have support for H265 playback.
Too many brands have used H265 to record for years, since old android versions like 4.4

Apple uses HEIF and HEVC formats which are nightmare formats to be read on an Android smartphone. Nobody really talks about this. I hate needing to convert them to store them onto my Google Photos.

Hence, why I don't buy iPhones any more. My last will be the iPhone SE (2016) which used the older, more compatible formats. They keep making things complicated like sticking to Lightning for more than a decade and then removing features like headphone jack and chargers.

I could care less how good the cameras are with iPhones if they force us with HEIF and HEVC over the commonly used JPEG and MP4/MKV.

I'd rather be stuck on older OS version with stable firmware than updating and dealing with issues like I have had since installing iOS14.
Only reason I got ipad was the fact it was good price, only samsung have android tablets here. The A series tablets are crap even for simple use. Only S tablets are useful.
