If Ultra was a straight up upgrade compared to its predecessor and it was locally available, I'd give it a shot. Otherwise, it feels more like an 11s Ultra.

Bodygard, 10 Jul 2022I could consider the 12S Ultra if it was anywhere around 6.... moreIt would lead to a very tiny battery, considering the space required for the camera and cooling. If wanting a small device, something has to give. The Xiaomi 12s packs a great camera system for it's size, if you prefer small devices.
I have the Mi 11 now, with 6.81" display, and would gladly take a larger 7+" display and NO curving of the display. I also have small hands, but love using big display phones.
The Sony Z Ultra I once had was over 9cm in width. Luckily the Xiaomi Mi Max slimmed the bezels by about 5mm on the same sized display, and I still use that on vacations. A display that wide, with a bezelless design and stretched to a 18:9 aspect would be perfect in my opinion.

Anonym, 10 Jul 2022I would, but only *IF* there was *official* 3rd-party Linea... moreYou will get such support for their lower phones like Redmi Note/Poco series but not flagships. For that buy One Plus 10T. You will surely have great support(If it comes under 600-700USD for 256GB).

I could consider the 12S Ultra if it was anywhere around 6.1" to 6.3". But at 6.7" it's just a brick, huge for my small hands, very uncomfortable to use. Besides, not available in Europe so, no chance.

I didn't vote on the 12s ultra poll.
Although I've heard good things about the focussing speed and shutter speed sure to the increase in light from the 1"sensor, nobody talks about the downside to this.
To for the 1" sensor, or in fact almost any large sensor phone today, there's no aperture control, the 35mm equivalent aperture of the 12s ultra is roughly f5 which is often too shallow when you want the background more in focus on a street scene.
The second issue I have is the focal length of 23mm which I consider as far too wide, to crop to a 27mm equivalent requires discarding 1/4 of pixels. After switching to a pixel 3 with a 27mm equivalent lens from a phone with a 25mm equivalent lens, for spontaneous shots, the pixel 3 gets closer without being too tight like the ZTE 35mm lenses.
Of course at night I'd be willing to sacrifice depth of field and focal length for a better shot.
I wish I could test drive all these flagship phones to see how the cameras perform in real life for my use, although I was able to try the Huawei mate 40 in the store, I wish I could take it home for a few days just like renting a car. There's still a lot of unknowns despite the reviews

STE FAR 05, 10 Jul 2022Everyone says you have to import like they forget there... moreThere isn't always, and Xiaomi has said they got no intent to launch Ultra outside of China
Here is hoping at least 12s goes global, but I highly doubt it

Samsung should put this much effort in specs as they're the only decent Android OEM left.

Look at the cameras! Chinese makers are taking advantage of Samsung's missed opportunity - 50 MP 1/1.28" 1.22µm sub-pixels on the vanilla & pro.
50 MP 1" 1.6µm sub-pixels on the ultra.
Compare that to Samsung's - 50 MP 1/1.56" 1.0µm sub-pixels on the vanilla & plus.
108 MP 1/1.33" 0.8µm sub-pixels on the ultra. Even worse results on Samsung's ultra.
Compare that also with Xiaomi's outgoing flagship - Mi 11 Ultra - 50 MP 1/1.12" 1.4µm sub-pixels, Xiaomi is going the right direction all along.

Anonymous, 10 Jul 2022What is a double launch? Will it support warranty as well? One China-exclusive launch for a few months and then they get put out to the Western markets. Warranty wise it's always been the case and Xiaomi always offers interesting support features.

These phones are not bad but again nothing out of the ordinary either. I can wait for the Nothing phone, or the upcoming Zenfone
