It is better to have more updates, but at flagship prices only. Below that, it is like begging for too much

It's kinda a very big thing.

Yes this is of course true, Apple always been doing this. If user aren’t happy with the experience you offer then they are very likely switching a brand and trying to find that better product, this happens in Android world all the time, the problem just is that the next one won’t be much better and yet again users going to be disappointed by the lack of support and again they try something else.

-Trix-, 26 Jul 2022” They treat you like last trash on Earth because getting y... moreNah, it's not just Samsung throwing money around because they can. They have a vision, similar to Apple. If you take good care of users, they'll be more inclined to buy your brand again, even if that means waiting for 5 years for them to buy your next phone. But isn't it better for Samsung if you buy THEIR new phone every 5 years reliably opposed to buying Samsung now and in 2 years a Xiaomi and in next 2 years an Oppo and then after 2 years a Motorola. This isn't a sprint, this is a marathon. Apple is doing the marathon, so is Samsung. The rest is just sprinting on impulsive buyers who usually never buy same brand twice in a row.

It's also why they all have 5 sub brands and they spam "appealing" devices on market like crazy. They want to saturate market with different named devices so casual users who are jumping between brands most likely pick between "competing" devices that are actually all from one and the same vendor. Just look at BBK and their Oppo/Vivo/iQOO/OnePlus/Realme. Or Xiaomi's Redmi, Poco and Xiaomi brands. It's literally that. Notice how Samsung doesn't do that at all? They have different models for different price ranges, but they are all Samsung. That by itself is telling what companies are focused on.

[deleted post]Seriously, what are you talking about??!?

The only one's 'crying' about the state of software support on Android are Android users themselves. Or you'd better hope that is the case at least, as they are the only one's Google and it's Android partners are likely ever going to listen too..........

What tends to happen is people when trying to justify owning, or even just not hating the very existence of an iPhone on this site, will often point out the longer and more consistent software support iOS enjoys as a benefit of the platform. Only then for some Android fan to try to twist into another of the endless list of negatives they seem to come out with.

The iPhone person will then push back, same goes for the Android person and we have just another spoke on the wheel we've all been going around on now for over a decade, all because IOS and Android users seem to feel some inexplicable and futile need to be in competition with one another.

                  Tribalism at it's most pointless!!!!

Those €1000 Android phones have far more features than an iPhone of the same price. Just look at the iPhone 13, it doesn't even have a HRR or an AOD. Base storage is just 128 GB. On the other hand, those 1000+ expensive Android phones are loaded with features, the storage is usually 256 minimum on those. I'm not even talking about the Samsung foldables that are at the same price of an iPhone. if apple made such a phone then they would price it at least €9999 or something

It's just about priorities, yours is three hundred updates on the phone. Mine is just features

[deleted post]That's funny Anon. What are you all doing in literally all Apple related articles constantly s**ting on anything Apple? And it's nothing constructive even. Just some random half truths rambling about iPhones and pointing at small numbers in spec sheets that have very little to do with reality.

My main gripe with Android has been its sad software support and I've been experiencing this sad software support for a decade. Then I had enough. That's a legitimate complaint. How dare they sell an Android smartphone for 800, 100, 1500€ and give it just 3 years of updates. Or often not even that much. It's insulting. Or how they need more than half a year to update to latest Android version or how it takes weeks to deliver any updates to users with their ridiculous "update seeding" nonsense. Apple may have issues and limitations, but my god they take good care with timely software support that lasts for years. On iPhone, I don't even think about software support. Can you say the same for all the Pocos, Renos and Redmis?

SShock, 26 Jul 2022Now you're excusing with price? Sorry to burst your bu... more” They treat you like last trash on Earth because getting you free update is their loss of profit. So they prefer to sell you new phone instead that happens to have new OS preinstalled. How convenient! They don't have any long term plan or commitment and there isn't any ecosystem either.”

This exactly! 👌🏻 This is the one and only reason why Android companies give so short OS upgrade policy. Only way how they can make money is sell you a new phone. Samsung of course is in different situation because they have lot of other money sources, that’s propably also reason why they suddenly gave longer support for their phones, they know people want keep their phones longer and longer so they have no option, but give longer support, even when they know their phone sales will be affected by this, others just can’t do it because their sales are already so small.

Anonymous, 26 Jul 2022You and that Shhook guy have all the wrong notion about And... moreAll the wrong notion? Dude, I've been using Android since Eclair. I stopped using Android at Android Pie. There are no "wrong notions", that's just facts. Every device I had was absolutely horrible experience when it comes to support and it's all down to phone vendors that you/we can thank for this state. It's in no one's interest to keep users on last OS version for long. Not even Google's, because they seem like they give even less s**t about it than phone vendors.

[deleted post]Now you're excusing with price? Sorry to burst your bubble, but Android phone companies selling you +1000€ phones still have absolutely garbage software support. They treat you like last trash on Earth because getting you free update is their loss of profit. So they prefer to sell you new phone instead that happens to have new OS preinstalled. How convenient! They don't have any long term plan or commitment and there isn't any ecosystem either. And no matter how much everyone complains over Apple's "walled garden prison ecosystem" nonsense, they at least have one and it actually works. And it works really well. It's all that fluent handing over of everything between devices. And their software support is top notch, something no one can even touch currently, not even Google with their sad Pixel phones or Samsung with their otherwise outstanding support (among Android phones anyways).

I mean, I had iPhone once after using Android phones for 10 years and I'm more inclined towards another iPhone than Android phone. And I didn't have same Android phone brand twice. And it's the same trend among most users. Jumping between brands and realistically looking for device that's less garbage than the last one...

Skip for this year if there is no mini iPhone. Besides, my current iPhone still rocks.

Besides on Apple platform, there is tons of choices, i can go for iPads, Macs, Watches, Airpods. They all add value to my life and my iPhone.

Sadly on Android there is only Phone. So, they spent all their energy upgrading that only.

When they go to Car… android auto suck big time, they rather mount phone on their car dashboard.
When they are on the desktop.. No choice have to use Windows.. And their windows machine is like seperate from their phones.. No universal clipboard, and a pain to work together. Not to mention a noise fan and burning hot PC.
When they have to keep time or watch.. have limited WearOS choices.. taizenOS is so limited in integration.. unlike Apple watch.
Their tablet is just another android device, limited tablet apps, limited integration with their phone.. unless they go for the same brand.. plus the battery life is crap.

But like i said Android companies need to do this because if they can’t sell you new phone they don’t make money, but like the sales shows more and more people have had enough with this and they just switch iPhone.
