31 July 2022
Small but powerful, with few compromises (though some might prove to be deal breakers). Is this the best small Android flagship?

All the features and then also performance, updates etc. And then they cry if they price is high. iPhones are very expensive to begin with and because of that, they get updates but this is a $800 flagship

I would buy a zenfone 9... at the price of a zenfone 8. 800€ is too much for me for a new phone. I'll stick with my note9 for a little longer...

If I hadn't got used to the giant screens, this would have been a perfect phone for me.

Many brands barely make enough to keep business alive.
How can they do same compared to brands that make dozens of billion dollars?

I would be very susprised if Asus is able to make 1 bi dollars revenue with phones.
Apple makes about 200 bi just by selling iphones. This does not even count ipad and any accessories (charger, case, cables etc).

Hills od, 31 Jul 2022People talking about No Sd Slot are really stuck in the pas... moreYep. The lack of SD card is being overly exaggerated in 2022. It's become such common for phones to not have it

The audio jack is a useful feature although for water resistance and more space, it can be done away with.

Perhaps next to go are volume buttons or something. And then the power button. Finally what will remain is the tray. Maybe that will be gone as well. A portless phone is the future

            >The Samsung Galaxy S22 will receive four OS upgrades and five years of security patches.
            >Asus has only committed to two major OS updates (and Android 13 is around the corner) and “at least” two years of security patches.

Aka "release and abandon" strategy for 200$ Chinese e-waste phones. Asus better steps up their software support game for Zenfone 10 or at least keeps the pricetag more appropriate next time. Huge fan of the compact phones, but this one gets a no-no from me.

Good phone, I would want to buy now. But by the time they are available in my country, the next version of Android would be available, hell even the next galaxy S phone would be out. And the phone will be priced similar to its current price.
I would gladly buy last gen galaxy S at that point as it would have received the latest Android by then, receive one update more than this phone and would have dropped in price.

It looks great, for sure, but I think it's been a bit exaggerated when it comes to size and form factor.

I think they've tried to use the 5.9" screen to their advantage to create this "smallest android phone" perception when in reality it's the same size as an S22 or iPhone 13 save for 2mm in width (which is not even worth an argument)

Battery life looks to be excellent however the cameras less so which is a big must for me.

People talking about No Sd Slot are really stuck in the past, it's like saying you wanna stay in ur mom's womb instead of facing the reality.. it's over, just wake up. Time will come when there'll be nothing like sim slots.

No, I don't care about the rest of the specs if there's no SD card slot ! My 1TB card is showing the middle finger to all brands that don't have the SD slot on their high-end flagships!

I love it and it's almost the perfect phone for me, but at that price tag some of its drawbacks are really tough to look away from.

I feel specifically the use of a mid range sensor for the primary camera just bugs me too much. It's not like Asus has amazing processing that they'll be able to get great photos out of an okay sensor. The Nothing phone, Nord 2 get good photos out of this sensor for their price, but at this price it's just not acceptable.

My OP6 also had a middling camera when it came out and now I barely take any photos because the photos that come out seem so mediocre.

That and the software support are just disappointing. I'm fine with not having wireless charging or any other issue.

Personally Would not spend more than $399 on an Android phone that's not made by Google or Samsung!!

Yes and no. Size wise, spot on. Size at around 6" is spot on for me, 6,1" is kinda max I'd have. Plastic back is a mild annoyance, but I guess they could make the back thinner much easier with plastic than glass to cram in bigger battery. Fair enough. What I can't look past is just 2 years of major OS updates. It's a 800€ phone. I expect a bit more from it software wise at this point. Sure, they give 2 extra years of security updates only, but that's just not quite it. If they only added 1 more year of major OS updates and I'd actually consider it. It ticks all the other boxes.
