George399, 10 Oct 2022ZTE: under screen camera, other brands don't care Opp... moreOr just maybe, no one really cares about Oppo and whatever they are doing? What good is all out specs and best night photography in the world when rest of the phone, particularly software and its support is meh at best? That's a common theme with all Chinese brands anyway. They all throw biggest and greatest specs on paper and just almost entirely ignore software. If anyone hasn't noticed yet, hardware is only worth as much as software running on it. I'm surprised people still don't understand this to this very day. Microsoft's Lumia phones were never lacking on hardware side, but Microsoft's lack of interest to push things forward was the demise of Lumia phones.

And frankly, I'd even bit the bullet and grab Pixel despite not liking Google at all just to have iOS like software support, but on Android. But Google just doesn't convince me with just 3 years of updates and 2 extra years of security updates. For a first party device running OS they made themselves, that's just sad. And hardware they offer is also very underwhelming. I was cheering the initial news about 5 years of software updates with Pixel 6 launch, thinking they'd be delivering 5 years of major OS updates and I'd be Pixel user for life then, even with inferior Tensor chipset. Just to realize it's actually 3+2 and I was like "wow, that's pathetic". And I still hold same opinion. At that point, just computational camera alone simply doesn't convince me.

"Pixel lacks Innovation"...Apple innovates?...This heading should be Apple lacks Innovation

          Define Innovation!?
Go start your own smartphone company and innovate!
Say this 'Innovation" stuff to Apple.

I have never been a fan of any particular smartphone brand. But Pixel 7 series is one of the best right now and although it might not be as good as Apple of Samsung.
Its has 5x lossless zoom and 30x Super Res Zoom, does the Iphone 14 series have it. Google has no ads in its UI.. samsung has ads in its UI atleast here in India. Its better in one way or another as compared to Samsung and Apple.

As same as iPhone 12 series battery bug,
Pixel 7 series fixed some Pixel 6 series problems.

many innovations are hidden as "gimmicks"...
just because some people say so...
funny, even tech pages like gsmarena is crying like 7 years olds...

Google should have really worked on taking Computational Photography to the New Generation.
Meaning creating much greater detail for smaller sensors partially circumventing lens and sensor size limitations, much greater colour information, industry leading OIS, much greater buffer for RAW, way greater upres abd downers to improve the final image.
The industry needs a generational shift much like Night Photography and Super Res Zoom, but for the next generation. The stagnation in pixel phones in manybways is bad for the entire industry.

That's why the dual pixel layer sensor of Sony and Triple ISO (ADC) of Samsung (to be implemented simultaneously), is what will lead the industry. And algoriths that help mimic much larger sensor detail and clarity brilliantly, are the need of this next generation of smartphone photography.

I do not really care for 1 day smartwatch, so I won't even try to make a comment regarding it, but Pixel 7 Pro feels like decent successor to P6Pro - it has better camera, better battery life (supposedly), much brighter display for taking a picture outside and hopefully better authentication (reliable FPS/face) - the price and pre-order bonus ... that is not available in my country ... make it fairly great deal as smartphones go.
What I am most excited is that tablet. Pretty much since 2015 when I bought my first iPad Pro tablets are pretty much dead for me ... as they generally suck software wise ... pick Apple or Samsung, both are just horrible. BUT I really like my Nest Max display, as it make a good company when I work displaying photos and sometimes playing some LoFi on background ... so a tablet with bigger screen, that can act as a Nest Max 2.0? I am fairly sold on that proposition.

BTW, have you even noticed Google was able to break USB DAC on Pixels ... AGAIN!?!

                          Dear apple fan boy,
Pixel is moving in the right direction. Iphones lack innovation for years yet people don't complain.

George399, 10 Oct 2022ZTE did, oppo did(night photography)oppo? they only innovate ugly back design, introducing the rebranding low midrange phones.

This article is partially true. The hardware of the pixel 7 isn't exciting, even the chip is almost the same as last year, but the software side is exciting, the more powerful NPU and ISP enable new features like photo unblur, cinematic video

Every phone is an incremental upgrade at this point, what was the last phone that was a genuinely massive leap over its immediate predecessor (i.e. not something like the Galaxy Ultra series that were a brand new line of phones)?

What an incredibly condescending, negative and pointless article.
