Ren, 11 Oct 2022Main reason I say he/she should calm down, because as a iOS... moreLol, what is so over the top? Correcting absolute made up claims haters make? It's often so bad it's not even just misinformation, it's straight up bulls**t lies. And I've already explained why I so furiously debunk their BS. It's these lies that made me avoid iPhones for years because they overexaggerate all the problems, issues and limitations by factor of 500x. You have to really try hard to write so much bulls*t. That's why. Not because I'd be paid by Apple or work for them. I have zero affiliation with them and if that makes me a "fanboy", then f**k it, then I'm a fanboy, even though I'm planning to buy Galaxy S23 next year and have been using Android phones for freaking decade before...

SShock, 11 Oct 2022I don't care. At least I know for a fact I don't ... moreYou may not care but I understand @Ren, your way of acting makes iOS users really look bad.
YOU don't care, but other iOS that get looked nasty at because of your comment style DO care.
So I fully agree with you having to calm down.

That's a good example, which fortunately I can also use. I had an Asus Zenfone max Pro M1 (great phone, very practical) which had 'stock' Android and had google photos as it's default gallery.
Even though it stopped receiving updates, I got most of the features you mentioned since my google photos was updated because and google lens was integrated to it. I obviously didn't get it in the camera (though I did get it because of gcam mod) because it didn't use Google's fancy camera, most newer phone's stock camera have direct access to google lens. So as long as google keeps updating google lens, everyone will have access to it.

And that's what separates me from them. If you don't like the fact that I keep correcting and disproving their BS, then that's your problem, really...

ALU to Cache, 11 Oct 2022The kid who never used a good document scanner in life. Ops... moreYou know you're an absolute a**? Of course you don't. The document scanner is in File Manager (it's literally part of iOS) and it auto detects document edges super fast and super accurately and it can either stack pages into one PDF or you can save them individually. All in few taps. Opposed to other clumsy tools that even demand you register account to save documents to cloud and whatnot. Stop being a smarta** when you clearly don't have a clue what you're talking about. Go away.

Better iOS than being sorry with an Android phone. I got a Chinese phone on Android and it had a bug that a mail app, any mail app couldn't attach any file, not even PDF files. I was waiting for an update to fix this but it never came. If you consider that I paid for this phone 350 dollars and with the same money or 100 dollars more you can get an older iPhone model, new with Apple guarantee and updates for many years, then taking the risk to buy an Android in order to save a little money is a stupid thing to do.

And I see them often on different articles too, it's that I don't care as much online but in real life I would almost want to hide my iPhone in my pocket and act like I never had one, just because his/her comment make me look bad as a iOS user (because I bet ya most people would ignore the fact I use iOS AND Android)

There every single doc scanner in the play store is light years more functional and intuitive than what apple offers, but since when Microsoft lens became a mainstream doc scanner with 10mil downloads only?

SShock, 11 Oct 2022Imagine still giving a f**k about updates size in 2022... I... moreNot everyone lives in a country where data is cheap.
In mine most people go the wifi route because it is truly unlimited.
Mobile is expensive, I mean my "cheapo" sim only has 8GB of data and I pay 21 euro for it monthly, imagine how stupidly expensive this cheapest option is compared to other countries.

So please.... just calm down in the future.

Rkm, 11 Oct 2022I will give thumbs up for iOS security updates though. But ... moreIt's not just security updates. The amount of really cool stuff I got solely through iOS updates is HUGE. And I'm using iPhone XR which was the budget version of X series. All the text OCR from photos and videos, paired with integrated translation is so freaking useful. Then there is documents scanning which is sooooooooooooo much better than Microsoft Lens, Adobe Scan or basically any other document scanning app and don't get me started with the lifting of objects from photos. That thing is freaking magic. You just press and hold on ANY object, person or animal and it will perfectly trace it in a second and you can save it as separate image or just post it to messages or whatever. And I got this 4 years after I bought a phone. What other brand does this? Sure Apple has its own vision of OS evolving and won't add some things Android had for ages, but this is really cool and useful stuff I generally care more about than other things that are still missing on iOS. So, I'm still ok with it. And best of all, I have 1 more year of big updates for iOS 17 next year. I'm planning on getting Galaxy S23 next year, but depending on its offering, particularly chipset used in it. If it turns out vanilla model in Europe is getting some Exynos BS, I'm just gonna wait for iPhone 15, get iOS 17 on my old one and wait for iPhone 15 to be readily available so I can buy it by walking into a shop without any waiting or queuing nonsense. Win win.

SShock, 11 Oct 2022There are low level things that can't get fixed throug... moreI will give thumbs up for iOS security updates though. But even though, most vulnerabilities requires user interaction to be exploited and if I fell into one of them, being a tech literate, I deserve it.
So the trade off of the closed system isn't worth it.

SShock, 11 Oct 2022There are low level things that can't get fixed throug... moreI didn't assume anything. I literally quoted the fixes in the article and said that you don't need an OS update for fixing that. "core operating things like device components like microphones" will obviously be fixed within the devices' sw window and those are kernel level things which, if not messed up will not be broken again.
And you are gracefully missing my point that system apps / stock apps / built-in apps in android can be updated via play store irrespective of the android version whereas in iOS, you need an OS update. Apple can push other stuffs along with it too ( like security updates, vulnerabilty fixes etc ), but if you don't want changes to the core changes ( eg) you are sure your next iOS update will decrease your battery life/ make your phone slower), but you still want some of the feature / bug fixes on your message / dialer, you simply can't.
I am not saying one is superior to another, but just think about it.

Rkm, 11 Oct 2022I will probably start a war, but this is what I was talking... moreThere are low level things that can't get fixed through app updates. You're assuming it's all high level bugs that can be fixed with app alone. That's often not the case for a lot of core operating things like device components like microphones and stuff unless they broke it in the app itself.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2022Weird that when a device get update it is not garbage and w... moreJust because they allow it to still work doesn't mean it's great or secure... I've done research and both, Google and Apple let devices to operate for 10 years at which point they discontinue versions entirely, not allowing them to login to their services. Only difference is, most Android devices are hardly ever updated and are left to run in outdated state for this period and Apple devices are constantly updated for really long time and then stop getting updates a year or two before the end of support at 10th year and that's that. End result is the same, just journey to the end is different.
