Samsung Galaxy S23 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tested by Geekbench

17 October 2022
This is a preview of the performance we can expect from Qualcomm's next flagship chip, which has an unusual CPU configuration.

They never got lesson.
If you make a phone with snapdragon, must wait + version for it.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2022Weibo tipster (not DSC nor iceuniverse) says this is capped... moreThe final version is going to have lower perfomance or higher performance?

77, 18 Oct 2022My s21ultra 16gb Ram with virtual ram off 6gb , total 22gb ... moreYeah, make sure you list that L3 cache! Totally relevant to your comment about memory use for apps...

[deleted post]Congrats for admitting you're harassing and bullying iPhone users just because they are iPhone users. Also quoting my post and typing totally irrelevant comment on it shows you either can't read or refuse to read but need to complain about iPhone somehow. ?!

Nice but Apple is better Always.

UltraHD, 17 Oct 2022Hopefully it will be Snapdragon in Europe too.Far too late for me, since the 200MP will probably be less quality than IMX989, I'll see in another brand since my S8 😅 (S22u ATM)

I had 100 apps running with all 8 cores active
You need too know be smart intelligent knowledge knowing command scripts on android and good St rooting.

PhoneFreak45, 17 Oct 2022Well after looking it up seems it's 2 years updates 3 ... moresony shill detected. Why do I have to think of the product from the company's perspective? I have to take the product at face value. What if someone desires more updates instead of a microsd card slot or a headphone jack? You know your priorities and that's why you're supporting those companies and I commend them as well but in the end the customer wants a safe product that they can rely on. That's why everyone uses iPhones, not many people complain because they're happy with the amazing software which is the most important part of anything nowadays. Sony's heating issues and lack of software support/consistency is what makes them a niche brand for "enthusiasts". That price tag too, ugh.

Hilarious to see people discussing phone cpus, even advising to wait a year or two for some magical leap in performance.

All of that only to...what? Doomscroll mindlessly on social media lol.

I don't like this chip or this design.
Firstly using 4nm nodes is basically a refreshed 5nm node.
                        Secondly, A715 is a revised A710, hence X3 is a revised X2 core.
Thirdly, mixing too many cores leads to latency issues. That's bad.
Lastly, this is still an 8-core configuration when ARM increased it to 12-cores.

The above device won't be more efficient or more powerful than the QC 8g1+. It will only show improvements in theoretical or synthetic tests. Real-world performance will be equal. At least it won't be as thirsty, hot, and slow as the QC 8g1, QSD 888+, and QSD 888.... all of which performed bad next to the much cheaper QSD 870.

As said earlier, wait for Late-2023 iPhones or the Early-2024 Android Phones. That's when we're getting a true node-jump to the TSMC-3nm, and a proper processor upgrade to 2nd-gen ARMv9 cores with the Cortex-A730. The Nuvia cores were supposed to be out in the market like 2019-2020, they're not impressive anymore. You won't see them on phones as they are targeting the (ARM-book) Laptop segment, it might make an appearance on the high-end/luxury big tablet side.

Another anecdote: Microsoft's roadmap had their next-platform ("Windows 20" ?) due out in 2024, which may still get the green light. So far Windows11 hasn't been great, and the pandemic has affected their progress with their roadmap.

Pathetic Samsung, keeps charning same phones with same internals each year. 8gb RAM satarted with S10 wtf???

If Samsung is going to deliver an Exynos version to my region I'm not going to buy it and I will buy a Pixel or any other flagship that ships with Snapdragon.
Exynos truly sucks and don't worth anything!

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2022We know Geekbench is designed for Apple silicon and antutu ... moreGeekbench was never designed for Apple in mind. It was first and foremost an x86 benchmark.

Later on (at version 3) it was ported to Android and iOS.

                                That's a massive improvement!

A link to the results: browser. geekbench. com/v5/cpu/18007997

I'm happy I've skipped the last two generations of phones.

I expected a Nuvia IP based design which should rival Zen4/Raptor Lake/Apple A14 but even this amount of performance looks truly great.

We know Geekbench is designed for Apple silicon and antutu is designed for android based processors such as Qualcomm or mediatek..
an Qualcomm processor scoring less than an Apple bionic processor on Geekbench is reasonable however if those numbers are legit it’s really disappointing..
