I don't think Android should be t as Ken away, this is Google private assets, not ours, users got usage rights, not the property rights. Even Huawei, as powerful as Samsung obey these rights. Who are we to order a Multi national to follow our wish. I support Google, software is a genius product, security is everyone wish, specially in a hostile world.

So, by some new EU law Apple will be required to allow sideloading on iPhones while Google will gradually phase it out. What a twist.

Android can no longer be allowed to be controlled by Google. It must be freed taken over by a worthy organisation so that Android and its users can get those lost features back, defeat and conquer apple and rule the markets.

In Android 15, sideloading will probably be removed entirely. At that point why would one even buy an android phone? Things that made Android worthy are disappearing day by day.
In an ideal world, people will get angry and will stop buying such products, impacting those sales and forcing those OEMs stop being greedy. But with this defeatist, worthless generation this is never gonna happen. They'll happily embrace it and will even pay more & more every year to get it. They'll call you "archaic" and "dinosaur" when speaking out.

Where are those "muh updates" people, those who buy phone based on how many years of update it gets? See, this is what update does to your phone. A phone that won't get updated to Android 14 is inevitable better than one that will in this regard at least.

Having to resort to using ADB to enable a new flag is a pain, even if it improves security.

GSMArena and its misinformation. No, it doesn't mean that Android 14 won't allow installing apps that target Android 13 or older.
"Initially, Android 14 devices will only block apps that target especially old Android versions. Over time though, the plan is to increase the threshold to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), with Google having a mechanism to “progressively ramp [it] up.” That said, it will likely still be up to each device maker to decide the threshold for outdated apps or whether to enable it at all."

Google Android is literally dead to me starting from Version 14. Yeah even if there are some clever ways to circumvent the restrictions on Android, guess what? Those restrictions should not exist in the first place. Android is anti-freedom, anti-developer bloated crap

Anything in life reaches a decline. Look at MCU after Phase 3. Android has gotten worse since 12 when they forced the hideous-looking Material You on us. A sea of sameness. I do think phones are better now. My top 3 favorite phones came out within the last 3 years. But the excitement it once had is no longer there.
There's a good chance my final Android smartphone will be the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 because it will come out with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which I hear is an excellent and efficient chip. It should come out with Android 13. It's either that or the Unihertz Tank if I move to Metro since Unihertz Tank won't work on AT&T.
I'll have no plans to ever update them. I keep refusing to update my Razr 5G to 12 because I read it makes the experience worse. Software updates are so overrated. All this security anxiety is a load of nonsense to scare users to keep buying another phone every few years.
I swear Apple makes their battery meter inaccurate once it knows your iPhone received your last update. Make it drain 5% every few minutes. They have a "timer" on their software update to give us an urge to upgrade to another iPhone.
