android is becoming ios. since android 11 i haven't seen any noteworthy improvements except tons of restrictions that "focus on security". it is my device, my software, it is my property. google may sell itself to apple so we get rid of this company.
android is better off without google! with recent android versions, access to the storage and system files (android/data,obb etc.) has been restricted. you are being advised to use a computer to access that storage space. why?
companies like google obviously misuse our data and then they have the right to be concerned about our devices' security?
i don't care about how many software updates smartphone companies offer. there won't be any update intruding into my phone anymore!

There are so many discontinued unique and great apps/games from even 8 years ago without ads nighmare that I'm still using. This gonna block average user from finding them even more

Not really a bad news as only about 5~8% of Android phones will get Android 14 (lol).

I guess this is my cue to start focusing on finding phones that best support LineageOS or even move back to Huawei as an option. I'm still using an old version of Vanced and will never give it up.

GAMIR3DH, 24 Jan 2023People don't install old apps "accidentally"... moreThat's exactly it. They want more control over Android. Sideloading apps is literally one of the main reasons people used to love using android over iOS. I think I remember reading about how they also reduced the capability of SD cards on phones to try and get people to use the cloud storage.

GAMIR3DH, 24 Jan 2023People don't install old apps "accidentally"... morenice but the shame is this, Apple fixes actively exploited iOS zero-day on older iPhones, iPads, and users need to step up the knowledge

Dometalican, 24 Jan 2023Exactly this. This is beyond stupid and I will not install ... moreBut Sony's two OS update rollout means that 2022 Xperia phones will eventually get Android 14. Your best bet is not to go higher than 2021 models.

This is exactly why I switched to iOS after 8 years of defending android phones. Android as a platform has been trying way too hard to just be iOS since 2021 so why settle for the "clone" when you can have the real thing?

Very very bad. Make better security precautions like giving a better explanation of what may go wrong if people continue with sideloading old apps, NOT stopping people from doing what literally makes Android as a platform desirable
