Lithography IP is exceptionally valuable as it costs a fortune to develop and manufacture. China is free to compete as hard as they can, they just have to do it on the same level as the rest of the world.

The big advantage here hopefully in theory anyway is
The Chinese Vs the west being competitive in the market nether side will handle cap there own processors too squeeze more money out of the customers as the over side would just win the aims race by going all out or so I hope
When western companies battle they price fix the market look at amd & Nvidia graphics cards
Found they can sell them for 2x or 3x MSRP
So yeah
I want too see competitive pricing and production of cheaper stuff

In all honesty we have no chance of winning the chip war as the west overpriced everything
The Chinese processor may be awful and horrible terrible so far but there better & better and hopefully they can produce them cheaper and manufacturers and make them cheaper
But if they can make them cheap enough very cheap they will dominate dirt cheap Chinese smartphone aways temping and garbage processor easily forgiven if the smartphone has very high ram & storage amount
The Chinese are going too win the technology race as long as they fight on pricing and production and not cutting edge technology as I think the west is probably too far ahead for them too catch up

China should learn from South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong people, how to respect countries that once helped them becoming Industrial countries from being poor countries.
China deserve this restriction just for not making good cooperation/relationship with the USA.

Chinese brand supporter could buy other chinese brand to defeat samsung/apple, but somehow the marketshare of samsung/apple is growing every year leaving chinese brand far behind.

So you need to combine hundred of random brands versus 2 brands only to feel better. If this comparation would make you happy with your inferior phone, then go ahead.
Even the total marketshare of chinese brands is still smaller compared to total marketshare of non-chinese brand, you did forget to count nokia, sony, pixel, etc.

Sooner or later google will cut access to GMS to those Chinese companies and they will reduced to small companies. India is planning to replace China in the lowest level of manufacturing and will hollow out China of million of works. China bit the hand that made it rich, now it will taste what it is having west against it.

Tricky situation, but i was China, i would feel prompted to develop my own chips. They wouldn't have to start from scratch. The far better solution would be true (fair) joint ventures, but that's s.th. China would have to develop that model first - almost from scratch ;-) But that would have a lot of potential in the end for sure.

And everything China isnt innocent of doing America is guilty of the same thing
People say China is infringing on patents giving examples of Chinese brands .. but apple is doing this as well...
They mention spying in China... But we have Google Facebook etc..
They say China is totalitarian.... But American is similar they are just covert with it
Only in democratic countries you have things like "shadow" banning where your not silenced directly
