128GB Samsung Galaxy S23 to use slower UFS 3.1 storage

30 January 2023
UFS 4.0 will be used only for higher 256GB capacity model. There may be other cut backs as well.

Samsung's cutting costs like it's gonna fail if it doesn't but if it keeps making its products worse then that'd be its downfall, imo it started with the s22 series. 2021 was a year that was way too good, a52s 5g, s21 series and the s20 fe as well. All bangers. Hope they can become better, though there's like only a 10% chance or something.

That is why I decided to sold my Samsung S22 Ultra for a Sony Xperia 1 Mark 4, and I'm totally happy with the decision. I definitely not regretting the decision at all.

P.S. For all the people complaining about the "overheating" on current Xperia flagships, I only experience it when recording 4K/120fps video. I don't feel much of it during mobile gaming.

I can't remember where the discussion was held but at some point on this site, I mentioned how the 888 was less efficient than the 870, but I didn't know where to find any concrete evidence. Luckily, someone replied to argue against me and had a chart of his own showcasing power draw vs benchmark scores. I did the math using that chart and the 888 was less efficient than the 870. He somehow knew where to find the chart but didn't know it disproved his point and proved mine. 😂 In that chart was also the 865. And the 870 was just an inefficient overclocked version of the 865, so ofc the 865 was far more efficient than the 888 in that chart.

Samsung nodes suck, dude. They ruined 2 years of flagship SoCs. Samsung is always a couple years behind TSMC.

Charging a thousand dollars for a phone and cheaping out on storage speeds? 😂

Don't forget the S20 had a larger battery and higher resolution display than this as well. For the same price. Samsung's a complete and utter joke.

Samsung thinks they can get away with downgrading phones like apple.
Samsung ppl forget apple clients are gonna pay for whatever apple offers, even if apple starts to charge monthly fee to use iOS they would gladly pay.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2023No reason to buy 128GB anyway. Even midrangers have 256GB.No reason to buy it with the slower storage. For me, the only reason I have a 256GB S22 is because it was the same price as the 128GB version. Otherwise I would have gone with the 128GB version, to lower the price.

But I was already paying out of pocket, under $300. After my $550 trade in from my S21 and cash back from the purchase. Plus I had $200 in Samsung store credits they gave me. But the lower I can get the price the better. Especially since I'm on a one year upgrade cycle now, for my Galaxy S phones.

But this year I will have to move up to the S23+. I just hope I can still get a great trade in deal plus a decent amount of Samsung Store credits again.

It is really shame what Samsung is doing with standard version of S2X, this year S23. Ok, I can understand that they are not able to put High end camera modules which are big, but to make a difference by adding space around the screen, slower memory, slower modem to keep the focus on Ultra - it is really embarrassing. Not everyone wants to carry +6.5" phones and I am quite sure that Samsung has a good profit on the standard version as well, not only on Ultra model. If they really want to have a standard version like this, then let them name it differently, because this is far from the model that should bear the name from the S series. S23 and S23 Ultra are completely two different devices that do not belong to the same class at all!

The S10e was the last compact phone from Samsung worthy of a flagship label.
And even better, the petite phone had some advantages vs their bigger counterparts:

Better battery life and energy efficiency
Much more faster and reliable fingerprint sensor
                                        Flat screen
One hand use really useful for the size and weight

This S23 really not impresses with their shortcomings... meh.
