Anonymous, 06 Jun 2023Aluminum is lighter. I assume they studied this and realize... more>gear for those with lots of disposable income. They'll be the first beta testers.
You meant, who is willing to signup 3 year 20% credit for that right? Cause, just like alcohol, Apple products are often bought by poor people.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023It was $499 with a contract. That's probably more expe... moreAt those years, 499 wasn't exactly "expensive" for a phone. For example Samsung Omnia price at lunch was something between 600$ and 700$!! Yes it wasn't cheap, but not expensive as well. This "spacial computer" 's price is more than double of it's direct rival(quest pro, 1500$). I think almost everyone will wait for some non pro version.

IpsDisplay, 05 Jun 2023Id argue that's it's still not reasonable This... moreThe only competition here is literally HoloLens. HoloLens is being neglected by Microsoft while Daddy Apple and Mommy Foxconn is training Vision Pro.

Virtual Reality is still fake and that's a lot of money to pay to fool yourself. It's either reality or it's not.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2023Aluminum is lighter. I assume they studied this and realize... moreRight... i mean... i guess you are right if we put it that way. The Galaxy Fold 1 was $2k then the 2nd gen of it was cheaper...

GAMIR3DH, 06 Jun 2023$3.5k??? I expected $1.5k max considering the Quest 3 even... moreAluminum is lighter. I assume they studied this and realized if you're wearing something on your head, you want it as light as possible. That said, this is not a mass market device. Very much a first generation piece of gear for those with lots of disposable income. They'll be the first beta testers.

$3.5k???
I expected $1.5k max considering the Quest 3 even though more expensive than the Quest 2, is at least cheaper than then Quest Pro.... and Apple didn't even bother adding stainless steel to the frames but instead is the cheaper to make aluminium!

Even though VR and AR technology is great and very intriguing, we must realise that it will never be a mainstream thing, it is a niche product and always will be.
For a product to be mainstream, it should make things easier compared to other methods (and of course it should be affordable). That's why smartphones rule the technology world. You can do so many things with little effort in seconds. AR and VR have their uses and provide some unique experiences which I love but they are never convenient.

Greeeeat.
With years of focus on Fitness with Apple Watch and WatchOS, Apple now brings us the device to make their users into greasy French-toast choking, sweaty Fat bodies like those in the movie Surrogates (feat Bruce Willis).
This is so far into the WRONG direction that many of their users and fans were hoping for.
BUT good job Apple you've FINALLY created a product that your cash non-restricted elite fans CAN buy but CANNOT public brag about having the just released device to cause envy in others. Great job lol.

Lmfao has 10% of the Meta Quest capabilities but is being sold for 3 times the price & a lot of fancy marketing bs. I can't believe people fall for that

This device looks freaking amazing, alas, I guess it will be pretty much useless offline or without an Apple account which means even if it were priced $750, not $3500, it would still not be usable or available for the vast majority of people in the world.
The amount of catching up other companies have to do to achieve something even remotely close is insane. I guess we'll get a first competing device no less than five years from now which speaks volumes about how much it cost Apple to develop, not to mention that nothing comes close to Apple M2, and Apple R1 is something which I still need to wrap my head around to understand.
This is way more innovative than the first iPhone was.
I know Apple is strong in the US and many if not most people here have a ton of Apple devices but I want something akin to this, even if it's going to take 10 years, priced at most $1000 running something open, e.g. Android or whatever Google will cook for it. Or maybe it will be Microsoft but I don't have much hope for them considering how the company has become obsessed with pushing the Microsoft account on everyone.
The way Vision Pro works, I don't even think Android is capable of driving a similar device. I guess Google will have to come up with a brand new OS with strong RT (real time, not ray tracing) support.
I envy those who can afford it and will use it. That's something breathtaking, like taking a flight for the first time ever. What a day to be alive
