      People forget that the market is a competition not just for producers but also for buyers.

      As a buyer you compete against hordes of people who don't have the same tastes, desires, and values as you. So even if you and a bunch of other sensible people don't want portless phones, you have no chance against the masses of people who either do want them, or simple don't care.

Same as Oneplus, Nothing, ZTE, and some others. Sure, I can buy from ebay or similar, but at almost 125% original price, plus tax and customs. That is illogical.
        You know that the screen is much more ancient than sdcard, and even before 3.5mm jack made it to phones? Screen evolves and get much better. Sd card also get much better too.
        So if you don't want to use phone without ancient tech, get a phone without a screen instead. Alas, there's no smartphone like that nowadays. So again, you've left with no choice but to buy a phone with a screen.
        I just want high-end phones to have not only advanced features, but also features available in lower-end phones but better.
        Like how cheap phones have dual camera 48mp+2mp, midrange have 50mp+8mp(uw)+2mp, and high end have 108mp+48mp(uw)+12mp(tele) or even more. Simple and logical.
        You'd be pissed if you buy a $1000 phone in 2023 and it has only 1 8mp camera, right?
        People like me are not minority, but phone manufacturers are lazy & just don't care, and made us the minority.

            i had an 16gb sd card from sandisk, bought in 2016, files never go missing, they are slow because SDHC. i upgraded to 128gb sandisk SDXC. it is much better now😀 i hope they last long as my 16gb..

                That's not sad, that's me using common sense. Why would I not want expandable storage?

                You can get higher-end SD cards that are fast, even if it's not as fast as phone storage. You don't really need faster speed if you want to store photos and videos. Files can also go missing on cloud storage as well, that is still a possibility even if it's lower. Apps can't use the storage normally because Google forced that and intentionally crippled SD cards.

                What kind of NPC logic is this? Wired headphones are superior to wireless in almost all cases except convenience.

                      I've talked to plenty of people and they would love to have a jack back on the iPhone or their Samsung.

                        Thanks for showing your bias and dishonesty. You try and use the amount of non-jack phones as a way to show that people don't want jacks, but that's because of companies forcing that to consumers, not because they asked for it.

                        If Apple released a new iPhone with a headphone jack, do you think the next year's iPhone sales will drop? The answer is no. People will buy an iPhone regardless.

Like I wasn't sure if Samsung really said that the Note 3 back in the day couldn't handle Marshmallow but... here I am running it with Android 11 with lots of features from A6 - A11. And it was buttery smooth and has a more up to date security patch than something I bought in 2020. Bet some of these fools also taunted some of us to just get a new phone back then.

                                    And it really baffles me as to why security updates and feature updates require newer hardware and OS versions.

                                        We don't really have a free and open market, we are at the mercy of the options that are available to us from the manufacturers. And in most cases, what does "win" in the market is the product with the most mindshare and marketing. Every year we spend millions hiring the best psychologists into finding tips, tactics, lies, and tricks to get more sales. Then we spend billions every year, trying to spread those psychological/subliminal messages out to the masses in a carefully crafted way. They do this because it yields results (see Mad Men). And for those who win by a bit, it snowballs into more victories, and for those who begin to lose, soon they lose everything. Just look at the Apple iPhone, they had the most mindshare, the best marketing, and they made quiet a few "wins" in the market leading upto the iPhone 4... then it exploded and they became the top earning phone manufacturer since. In contrast, Nokia went from being the biggest phone company out there, and it spiralled out to basically bankruptcy and acquisition. Along with Microsoft, Palm, Blackberry, Motorola, Sony, LG, HTC, etc etc.

                                        So now that I've explained the nuance to you, let's apply it to my example!
                                        The "superior" Samsung Note 4 de-evolved into the Samsung S21 Ultra. There were no options in the market that ticked the same boxes. All the anti-consumer decisions made, all lead to much higher profit-margins, thus more profits and revenue to Samsung. AT YOUR EXPENSE. Now let's look at the marketing department of Samsung between the two eras. The former Samsung Note 4 was released back when Apple had the iPhone 5S and just released the iPhone 6+, Apple's marketing was huge but Samsung was pretty small in comparison. The latter had the Samsung S21 Ultra competing with the Apple iPhone 13 Max, and in this instance, Apple had a larger marketing than before, yet Samsung actually spent even more than Apple. The numbers don't lie.
