                      Nobody wants to see Sony's death. Keep working guys. Very talented and cool company. I love Sony but for phones Samsung is the one that I love now. Why now? Because Samsung was laggy trash in the past. Now we have cool user interface with superb support.

                        More than 1000 news sources from google to yahoo and other search engines shows that SAMSUNG is the market leader for the last 12 years.

                        Also, based on any statistics the sales number of samsung phones growing every year since S20 series.

                        Compared with Sony, The worldwide total sales number of Sony is equal to sales number of Samsung in one small unknown village in Asia. Thats to show how minuscule Sony phone sales is.

                          You enthusiasts and SD/Jack aficionados aren't enough customers to keep a brand afloat.
                          The only reason they can keep doing that is because of theirs other ventures.

                          Playstation, Sony Pictures, Sony Cameras, Sony Audio, such endeavors are producing mainstream products that are sold to the masses, generating billions in revenue.

                          Thanks to that cash they can afford to keep doing the enthusiast-only phones that are only appealing to people in theses comments (The ones that are actually buying them anyway).

                          The aspect ratio, super handy but content-crushing (Most content on a phone is still 16:9 to 18:9)to the point you either loose a lot of content of accept two black bars around anything you watch.

                          The camera with a million of wonderful settings, but try to shoot on the go in auto and you'll be disappointed. It's not even a matter of skill, it's a matter of time.
                          When I (and most people) pull out my phone out of my pocket to capture something, it's always a one-time event happening right now, and I have like a 15 seconds window to take the shot. Adjusting all parameters will take me twice that on my best day, so by the time it's done I'll miss the shot. Auto ain't just a mode for newbies and muggles, it also allows you to take great shots on the go, when adjusting stuff ain't an option.

                          The gimmicky 4K screen, running at FHD+ all the time and only allowing native resolution in very specific (yet unspecified) scenarios. That's right, no 643ppi on your home screen or in your Instragram feed, try 400.

                          All that combined and you have all the ingredients of a born-to-die mobile division. It's not that I wish it, it's just facts. The only thing keeping Sony Mobile afloat are Sony's other ventures. Which is great ! I wish LG and HTC had enough businesses on the side to keep them from going broke. Now that they're gone look at what we have left. Samsung's gone Generic, Google's gone Exynos.

As I said, MY number one.

                            I personally love them, but am I fanboying them up? No.
                            Am I defending them, when they do something they shouldn't?
                            Again, no. Actually, you could see me defend Nokia Corporation against the whole BBK group, including vivo, in the article about them exiting european markets.

                            I, and any other person can love certain things without being a fanboy of said thing, and there is a huge difference between being a lover of something and being a fanboy of it.

The country's smartphone landscape was a boring Apple-Samsung one. Choices were lame, even more so when LG shut down. Only limited models of foreign brands available so you end up importing them.

                              Yep, it was just between two companies making cameras that happen to make calls, sms texts and occasionally browse the internet.

                              What a waste of rare earths and silicon.

                                Something they rather did not do, it’s sad that LG has stopped and my last phone from them, the G8S was for me the perfect device minus the software support (which oddly got better when they announced to stop making phones, that phone got Android 12 while 11 should have been the last one officially)

                                But they didn’t have a choice, they didn’t want to take their whole company down the drain and keep making phones.

                                But how does Sony do that? Just look at how many “changes” their phones have since the Mark 1 phone and compare that to current Mark 5.

                                That’s a route LG didn’t want to take and I respect that for them.

                                (Doesn’t make Sony bad btw, my only gripe with Sony at the moment is their pricing, €1399 for a phone with that short of OS support is baffling, especially considering Sony only releases 3 phones a year)

                                  Not much stronger than 695, but higher power usage because extra two A78.
                                  Probably it costs more than 695 and 778 because fab process is better.

                                  Qualcomm made huge mistake. Simple thing to do was 4 series as octa A5xx, 6 series as dual A7xx + hexa A5xx and 7 series as quad A7xx + quad A5xx. Just using newer cores as ARM inteoduces them.

                                      LG was dumb. Could still be around if done same like Sony.
                                      Some things could have been done to help situation.

                                      1) kill K series and very cheap carriers phones: cheap phones are not worth making unless you can make then for $70-80 and sell for 250-300 like chinese OEMs do.

                                      2) quit places sales were very low like Africa, South/Southeast Asia. And focus where they could sell more like USA, Latam and South Korea.

                                      3) should have not weakened G series and should have given stylus to V series

                                      4) should have sued bias youtubers that attacked their products to satisfy other brands, when they as reviewers have obligation to give honest opinion and not what makerting team of some OEMs tell them to say.

                                      5) should have redesigned the UI, it was very ugly like old android days like 4.4 or before.

Motorola released it a few weeks ago.
