As for quadbayer and lossless, there is truly lots of those, but for some, at least to like 2x there is indeed lossless performance, after all you get more power for processing smaller resolution with stacking, end result may be better than full res.
Optical is not always better, after all its matter of aperture, quality of lens etc. phone thickness is also a factor, maybe if there is better design for that...

What's illegal tough, is to take someones software and sell it as if it is yours. Or take exactly the same design, internal or external and sell it as if it would be yours and without paying for patents.
So yeah Smasung are copy pasters since ever, and they are actually not denying it.

"Xiaomi/Samsung own the android market, cause they make better flagship phones"
People should Look up official yearly flagship pro techworld awards more, to better understand flagship overall quality ratios, and avoid PR noise.
Sony flagships constantly win EISA, TIPA, IF Design awards, and then even some from rev sites like WhatHiFi, etc.
