Sony will keep making smartphones for multiple years to come, Qualcomm reveals

The two companies have renewed their partnership.

Wish their phones were more photo phones than videocamera phones.
Not to mention they can't do 8K.
Not that samsung is any better, having 200mp and 10mp in one device, but at least they try.
Having hi res hdr raw on all cameras is just heaven.

At least Sony is making profit with its smartphone business well integrated into their camera division. The market share is just one factor that may affect a brand's presence in a market, and unless Sony comes to a point that they see actual losses of their smartphones, I don't see any reasons and possibility for Sony to exit the smartphone business.

Even LG hasn't just exited until their 23rd consecutive quarters of losses for smartphones.

Please add in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, hate it on the power button

Sony is like Apple. They don't mess themselves like Chinese brands with more than 4 or 5 types of mobiles with same Number. I feel that their problem is marketing and releasing time. They announce today and release after few months. They are nowhere in Gulf and some Asian markets if I am right .

But you guys will still try to find reasons to hate.

Notebookcheck again has exposed fake advertisement from certain brands.
OEMs that claim to use screens with 1920 and 2160Hz flickering do not even have 240Hz according to their tests.
One of this bad domestic screens is being used on an ultra expensive phone.

Upper right portion is 151 nits different from portion where finger scanner is.
              Flickering is 120Hz.
              😂😂😂😂

"Xperia 1 V which is Sony’s latest flagship smartphone powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform has been very well received by customers."

How so? It is not even being sold yet....

So, technically, there are no "customers" of the Sony I v yet. When sales will start, and when real world reviews and sales figures start getting in, we will see how well customers will embrace the new SOny 1v.
For the record: I wish the Xperia mark v best of success as I think the market needs brands such as Sony who are still providing technical support for extremely affordable and large sizes of memory (SD card slot) and a 3.5mm jack in order to physically connect external mics or old high-end headphones etc.

Phone is able to easily record way more than 1h of 4K@60 while keeping 60fps (unlike chinese phones that can drop 10-15fps after 10min) at 150Mbps (while chinese phones do 40-50 Mbps).

Same xiaominions ignore xiaomi phones are the hottest phones while charging. Over 50 celsius without even using phone. Imagine the temperature it can reach if person is using.

You do not have this issue on xperia, also you can bypass charging to not damage battery.
Turn on H.S and same battery % is kept for hours and hours, like using laptop with removable battery ..

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2023"Samsung phone marketshare" Search on internet... moreOr... maybe people just don't know that Samsung and Apple is not the only phone manufacturers, or maybe they just afraid to try something new.

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2023"Many people regrets buying Samsung" *multiple... moreI regretted buying a Samsung phone even before I became interested and invested in tech, which eventually made me join GSMArena late last year. Besides myself, though, there are other people who regret it as well. Samsung might have lots of the worldwide market, but that doesn't mean that they're growing much anymore, and the statistic certainly does not mean that people who own a Samsung phone now won't switch over to someone else. There are people who regret buying a Samsung smartphone and will switch over to another Android phone or even an iPhone once their contract is over.

I Just Read, 23 Jun 2023I am not going to respond to any tagged reply to my post sa... moreIndeed, I myself bought a Google Pixel 7 Pro and did not care about who sells more phones. I thought Google has a lightweight and not over-the-top stock UI, an amazing camera software experience, and runs smoothly in a way that OneUI prevents Samsung phones from running in. I had a Samsung phone as well as two Samsung tablets prior to this, and the experience with all of them was terribly slow. It should be a criminal offense to sell an Android device with 2GB of RAM, or anything less than 6GB for the lowest-end of devices for that matter. Samsung gimps its lower-end phones both with bad hardware and a RAM-hungry UI that slows everything down.

At the end of the day, my terrible experience with Samsung was not just restricted to me. Either Samsung optimises OneUI and brings out faster processors that are more efficient and don't overheat, or they're at risk of becoming irrelevant at the mid-range segment, which encapsulates most of the smartphone market. Sony might be a niche brand nowadays, but they've massively improved upon their phones, with the Sony Xperia 1 V now having amazing thermals as well as a Night Mode, both of which people previously complained about. To be successful as a brand, you don't just have to have an identity and aesthetic, but also fix commonly-faced problems that your users face.

Totally agree! This is the only reason I?stay away from Sony.
