Wow, it's a picture of USB port! very exciting !!! not....

Apple may be going to keep playing bad games.
That phone will only work with a genuine Apple USB-C cable. hehe

Just remember it will still be Lightning port just disguised as USB-C shape. It won’t work with any normal USB-C accessories not MFI approved. Apple just complying with bare minimum of the law.

Are we really sure that we want this?
          Do we really want that?
I foretell USB-C cables with special Apple chip to lock out foreign manufacturers.
"This is not an Apple certified USB-C cable, please change it." -popup incoming.

It's a good thing that now all companies use usb c. But i personally dont like usb c, cause the port is not easy to clean, and that middle thing's a bit fragile

Typical apple: if cable is not from apple it will have no fast charging:)

No point, apple doesn't care as they've already made all the profit. If these usb c law and regulations were in place 5-6 years ago and apple was forced to ditch lightning very unwillingly then it would be something praiseworthy.

I hate that the port is male while the cable is female. If the former breaks it would cost much more to repair than just buying a new cable.

Sadly, greedy scumbags still control Apple. Very disappointing. A big loss for consumers.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2023Limiting the charging speed will violate the EU regulation ... moreArticle stated this

"Previous reports also suggest that Apple will limit data transfer and charging speeds on USB-C cables and accessories not part of its Made for iPhone (MFi) program. Apple is rumored to hold its iPhone 15 series keynote on September 13"

So I had to go deep, deep into the Orchard to find this
                                        https://9to5mac.com/2023/02/28/usb-c-iphone-speeds/
Apple may justify this in September in protecting iPhone from "unregulated charger and cables"
(I already have a thing scheduled for that MONTH)

The thing is data transfer speeds for USB 2 and Lightning are the same 480 Mbps (USB 3 is 10 TEN TIMES FASTER)
The Type C connector is different to USB (micro usb) Apple is limiting speed this is not less than iPhone 14.

Type C cables must support a minimum of 60 watt 12 volts @ 5 amps. However as you will see that there are already Type C phones launched at say 25 Watts so Apple non MFI cables and charger are at Apples mercy as to the charge speed.
