Anonymous, 08 Aug 2023"Previous reports also suggest that Apple will limit d... moreLimiting the charging speed will violate the EU regulation starting next year. The rumor is more plausible for restricting data access though, because OBVIOUSLY only Apple certified cables can be secure, when who knows what evil things a third party cable might do. (Anyone want to place bets on whether this "secure" device will be susceptible to a USB Killer attack anyway?)

That's why Mi 13 ... moreUSB Version has nothing to do with charging speeds , of It's PD then it's required otherwise OEMs have their proprietary solutions, which can do higher watts on usb 2.0 as well , also Type c has different pins layout depends on OeM
They can have slow data speed yet have higher watts support

jason, 08 Aug 2023its nothing to do with saving a few dollars on a USB-C port... moreThat's no ''few'' dollars that is a big cost difference. Apple is very much looking to save most of the bucks. I already explained it in different article. You see it as ''few'' bucks between usb 2 and usb 3 protocol.. but it isn't .. Apple make mass production where they make first sample of the phone and calculate expenses of all parts and licences and peripherals used, so if they will make milions of iphones of low end iphones with usb-c 2 and that your ''few'' cost of usb 2 is multiplied by milions then you will see that difference between usb 3 protocol ! So THAT'S WHY they use usb 2 on low end or mid end phones as they want to save the cost of manuf. per piece and of course for the high end products they will implement usb 3 protocol where they invest more calculated by milions will give significant price difference but they will cover themselves by selling unit at much much higher cost.. So basically the customer will pay for it..

Limiting the USB-C port for non MFi accessories is just such an Apple move... Wonder if these iFans actually have serious Stockholm syndrome, because Apple is the literal epitome of anti-consumerism

you have to suffer, 08 Aug 2023would the charging port sold separately?🙊that will never happen cause it soldered on the flex cable just like previous models, according to apple that part belongs to the back cover which comes with new mainboard and front camera/face id assembly and costs half of the phone

would the charging port sold separately?
