The company is promising 8 years of support but thinks that 10 years is possible too. It will deliver at least 5 OS updates to the phone.

5 OS upgrades and at least 8 years support woah!!! I like this phone a lot and Fairphone is really on my radar after my Samsung has to be replaced in a couple of years. Way to go Fairphone well done

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2023People dont understand the design to make it simple demands... moreWell thats correct.
But having for example just same motherboard with plenty of accesories to be switched to whathewer you like and is supported like a lego you can make whathewer possible for your phone and will work without any hussle would be really something.

Well i understand making this phone easy to works, easy to put together and disasemble if needed to replace all its broken parts without going anywhere is little bit too costly but if anyone can do it o its own and you dont need to pay another 100 for replacing work at fixing centre is such a nice move.

I like whole design around this.
And honestly if this passes by EU and all phones must been easily repairable just like this one we can speak abut ending of a foldable era.
No user would replace broken parts on its own on any foldable.

dated chipset already slow for the asking price, that 5 years of warranty is just a joke that isn't covered by any european law and barely anyone will replace even 1 battery before that phone will kick the bucket

Cpt.Power, 30 Aug 2023Well just sawJerryrigeverything with this phone in a video ... morePeople dont understand the design to make it simple demands much more efforts.
No way they can have this policy with lower price.
People here will ignore that and just look at specs.

Just proves devices hard to fix are done that way on purpose.
Like when LG used to put tons of glue everywhere.

It's a great support cycle. Good ol' Nokia days longevity.

Vyshak75, 30 Aug 2023Well, if you look closely, you can find cheap LCD displays ... moreLCD was not cheap type. It was original.
Phone was flagship in its time.

                      $30 = screen + frames + serivce

I'd be really tempted to get this if I had the money for it and it had the bands support for USA service providers.

I also got a new phone fairly recently, so I'm good for a while yet!

I love all the bourgeois champagne socialist virtue signallers in the comments praising this overpriced, ugly and not environmentally friendly phone... They're just gonna buy an iPhone or a Sammy anyway 🤣🤣

So let me get this right.

                            This is a 6.5'' device with a 90hz screen and 4200mah battery.
The SoC is the outdated snap778.
It doesnt even come with a bloody usb cable.
It costs 700 same price as Nothing phone 2.

Who cares about long software support, when the device costs almost 2times compared to other mid range phones???

And this is snap778 we are talking about. The SoC isnt a powerhouse to support 5OS updates without lagging.....

They could have integrated that ugly camera into that massive bezel

This display is straight from the company for those who prefers to use it. Service costs are very high nowadays. So if you compare, I believe this is a better option.

Still thinking about buying a new phone to replace my P20pro after almost 5 years of use.
Keeping a phone for 4-5 years is kind of mandatory for me.
Huawei did a pretty good job in terms of built quality. Yes, I don't have any software support anymore and that's what I'm looking for now.
The probleme is there aren't tons of company doing so.
With good hardware, I need good software.
Samsung might be the sole alternative on android but this Fairphone is to think about.
I've just saw JerryRigEverything video and the phone seems pretty solid.
I'll wait for more reviews, especially about softwear.
The only issue seems to be the price. 499€ would have been better

Well just sawJerryrigeverything with this phone in a video and have to say hats off kids.
This phone is fair better than your average forte because every clumsy guy at his home is able to replace anything on this phone oretty easily.
No wonder Zack Nelson was so hillarious about this device.
