Flagships are definitely useless. They are only useful to increase the profits of these brands who steal from consumers. 300€ phones do the same job.

if all rumours will true about galaxy s24 ultra, then samsung is trying hard to flop their s24 series, because they made enough profit from s23 series.

Like it really matters if you want a proffesional photos buy a proffesional camera for example Canon Mark 5 or something like that.
No phone no matter what camera specs its offer will outpreform even a low cost 300 eur camera. Thats just not possible.

Brown, 20 Sep 2023No satelite network? Like huawei mate 60 pro+Everything you think you "know" about mate60 comes from china-friendly accounts. All the reviews are from small channels etc. I live in China and mate60 antutu is like 3-5fps while my S23U is smooth. Also the phone heats up very much, the cpu is 4 years old technology, less than Samsung S20 performance. And priced at 1000USD. Just wait for reviews and dont waste your money.

Those who don't care about useful tools like headphone jack and microSD card shouldn't care about useful tool like telephoto lens. They deserve to get deprived of the other telephoto as well and eventually will be. *Oh dear why are you so unhappy, how else will your phone get slimmer and reduce camera bump and get more battery? Are you still living in stone age? Telephoto lens are ancient things like microSD and headphone jack*

Those 200mp sensors will NEVER be lossess for two reasons:

                            1. Tiny pixels means those pixels cannot get much light, rendering them unusable anywhere outside very well lit conditions and even then will have extremely poor dynamic range.

                            2. Despite 200mp, it's a hexadeca Bayer sensor, which means there's ONLY 12.5mp of colour resolution. Colourwise no better than digitally zooming with a normal 12.5mp camera! Yes, remosaicing or any other AI tricks cannot overcome physical limitations.

Nokia 808 could losslessly zoom because it's pixels were adequately sized and had RGB layout, so colour resolution was high too.

You scamsung fans DESERVE this. Did you stop them when they removed headphone jack and microSD card in 2020? You let them get away and they got away too far. They only removed 10x telephoto lens today. When they release 500mp or so cameras, they'll remove the reaming telephoto too. You'll then remember this. But you imbeciles bending down to oems DESERVE getting kicked around like this!

Let's assume the engineers at Samsung have thoroughly compared image quality of true optical 10x tele image with an interpolated cropped image from the 50 MP sensor with 5x lens and came to the conclusion that at the long tele end the latter may provide images as good as the optical 10x lens but much better images in the 5x-9x tele range.

In other words: Samsungs old camera layout with 1x, 3x and 10x lenses generated far too large optical gap between 3x and 10x, leaving all interpolated tele-images (4x-9x) with diminishing and ultimately poor quality and resolution.
The new setup is going to correct partially for this issue.
There is, however a downside to the new setup: it will probably limit the usability of upscaled images from 10x and up.

My upgrade is scheduled for early December and I'm hyped to get a discount on what might still be the best non-foldable Samsung a year into the contract, just like my S20 FE 5G was still the best non-foldable Samsung in Europe when I got it in December 2021.

Iki, 20 Sep 2023Resolution will always be resolution. No matter the size of... morea 300MP 1/4 sensor will never beat a 200MP 1' Sensor.

Simply because it will always only catch 1/16 of the light.

Therefore, ISO 800 on that 300MP sensor would have equally as much noise as the 200MP sensor would have at ISO 12.800.

And an 12.5MP sensor crop at 1/5.02 will not beat an 1/3.52 Sensor with 10MP because that extra resolution of 12.5MP gets traded in for about doubling the Noise at 10Times zoom.

Except in a bright daylight Summer day when any camera can do ISO 50 anyway, there will be no scenario where the new Periscope is going to be better.

It'll always capture as much detail as the resolution allows (given the optics allows for it)

The difference is in how the pixels are made up in the new sensors compared to old ones, where binning can't be compared equally.
