Latest Geekbench results show the Exynos 2400 is closing the gap to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

04 January 2024
The results come from a Galaxy S24+ and a Galaxy S24 Ultra, respectively, and the Samsung chip compares more favorably to its rival than it did a few months ago.

You speak as if you were a political leader figure at great rally, accusing Samsung like they were a great evil, committing crimes against humanity.

But in fact it's about 5% difference in benchmark programs for mobile phones.

Lower clocks and 2 additional small cores MAY help with efficiency . Especially while the phone is not doing much ( like browsing , email , whatsapp ) things that are used 99% of the time . Gaming is a niche market , mostly people use phone for their daily work .

For that reason let's give some credit to Samsung maybe they got it right this time . Actually performance is there for everyone if they make a less powerful chip with +10% battery life that might actually be a win for vast majority of users.

3 more weeks as will see about that

Heat management, battery performance is the key 🔑. My 8G1 is already blazing fast in app opening and other things. But it heats up a lot if I play heavy games

"Closing the gap" still isn't good enough. People are paying (often more) for an inferior product compared to elsewhere in the world. Exynos has also historically had poor efficiency which translates into poorer battery life than Snapdragon variants. Time Samsung stopped short changing most of the world with its cheaper, inferior chips.

low efficiency will turn to bad battery life.

its been since g S8 exynos have been bad media press and negative feedback by their own buyer.
The design of core thermal heat dissapation not as good as Qualcomm chip.User don care about closing gap. What people want to know how bad the chip going to throttle down in short period of time.Collobration with AMD graphic has turn it to become more worse .forget about Ray tracing.its a waste of time. The design hardware interface doesnt take advantage of current development of API in modern gaming.

Irrelevant how good and efficient Exynos is. Software optimisation is better on Snapdragon and Samsung have lied too many times about Exynos performance and efficiency.

Say no to Exynos. If Samsung tries to go back to it, then people should walk away from Samsung for good. There's a reason Samsung give USA and Korea Snapdragon versions for less money than Europe, rest of Asia and the UK and it's for favourable reviews and because their phones work better with Snapdragon CPU, GPU and modem.

Nothing wrong happened with exynos. No heating ever.

We need to see the efficiency...exynos usually matched snapdragon, but it also heats up like crazy.

                      Closing the gap???
mEh maybe but only on paper results not in real life scenarios.
Would like to see someone playing for example Diablo Immortal or Genshin Impact on best phones from all major android brands powered by SD 8 gen 3 from full battery to complete zero. Would like to see the heat issues, the lagg issues, FPS etc.
Same would like to see on a phone powered by latest and best Exynos CPU and the S24 Ultra and a all phones from all brands which got Mediatek D9300 with only powerfull cores on board.
And same thing would like to see on Iphone 15 pro max with their CPU and GPU.
Would love to see the lagg issues, heat issues, battery drainage, FPS and many else.

This could be very interesting to see.

However, Exynos still needs to prove itself in having better efficiency as the problem with Exynos so far is the much inferior efficiency compared to TSMC fabbed Snapdragons.

Who cares about a few hundred points difference in geekbench. What matters is performance per watt, aka efficiency, as this will translate into a more relevant impact on daily use such as battery life and heat dissipation.

These articles every year focusing on the same thing start to really piss me off, especially since I'm European. Other than gaymers and benchmarks obcessed people, who really cares about this? And how is this news? Benchmarks difference between Exynos and Snapdragon have been about the same for the last 5 years, and it's really no big deal, the only people who try to make it a big deal is the people who make money off of clicks from online NPCs. The problem for real users has always been efficiency, no one has ever noticed how their app took 28 milliseconds more to open. And even for gamers, if a processor is stable and 90% performance of Snapdragon it will still be amazing device for gaming. But for the normal people, as for everyone else, the real difference is the huge discrepancy in battery life. If the Exynos has 60% the benchmarks of the snapdragon and the snapdragon has a battery life of 8 hours and Exynos 10 hours, I will take Exynos ANY DAY

The Exynos is clocked much lower and still performing similarly. I am guessing the Snapdragon may be the surprise overheating champ this time. We should know in a few days.

                                    1. Apple never used Samsung chipsets.
                                    2. Qualcomm never used Samsung chipsets.
                                    3. They used Samsung's foundry, and Samsung's only competitor is TSMC.
                                    4. Qualcomm cannot even compete with Samsung on chip production.
                                    5. Samsung and TSMC's chips sorta take turns to be better. They tend to leapfrog each other in technological advancements. We'll see if Samsung can catch on the 2nm and 1nm chips, but that's 1 or 2 years away.
                                    6. Sometime in the past, Qualcomm chips were the butt of jokes for overheating and poor performance. Everyone avoided Qualcomm chips because of how bad they were, how hot they got, how they were not usable after 15min, etc. Keep that in mind. (search: Snapdragon 810, 820). It only improved after Qualcomm switched 830 to 100% by Samsung.

Considering how MediaTek has already closed the gap to Snapdragon, Samsung needs to try a little harder.
