So Qualcomm has agreed to support the chip for 7 years?

They're doing the right thing. But something I don't see a lot, is people forgetting that the older the phone gets, the updates will start coming later and later. When Samsung S24 is the new flagship the updates will be fast. But as it gets older, the wait for the most recent OS or monthly security patches will be long...I would prefer a phone with for example 4 years of updates but always on time like iPhone or Pixel phones. But, it's still better than nothing and congratulations to Samsung.

2years later in early 2022, Samsung was the first Android company to offer 4major OS updates, back when most companies offered 2 and 3(including Google).

So if rumors are true, after 2 years(2024)Samsung will become the 2nd company behind Google to offer 7years of software updates.

This is the only good thing Samsung actually does right. Upping the software support, forcing the other companies to follow.

Relevant hardware with 5G network(one of those early 5G devices) and then why cant Samsung provide retro upgrades to this as well. I believe S10 and onwards need justice for retro upgrades for 7 years. Capable hardware crippled by Samsung given their lousy software upgrade policies.

If they would provide 7 years of major OS upgrade then they know their sales and profits of the new flagships would gradually decline. These capitalist very well know to how to sell their phones while fooling public.

Even Apple doesn't provide 5+ or 6+ years of upgrade.

There is no such a thing, it's just marketing BS to make you believe it's worth to buy Samsung phone just because of upgrades but in reality they will release something much better in 3 to 4 years times and you will keep buying stuff, don't worry they will keep releasing phones every year with slight upgrades, nothing will change in tharlt department :)

7 years is a long time. Don't be tricked.
They just want you to buy the phone.

They know you're going to get bored of it and check newer technologies.

In 5-7 years,12 or 16gb of ram S24Ultra has will be more relevant than 4gb of ram S9 had.
In 5-7years, 5000mah battery will be more relevant than 3000 the S9 had.
                          And the list goes on.

Galaxy S9 only got 2 major OS updates, and even if you replaced the battery, its battery endurance was mediocre at best.

With S24Ultra, you have the choice to keep using it as much as you want, even if we are talking 2-3 years or 5+years.
The hardware is way stronger to support longer software support compared to Galaxy S9 days.

7 years of OneUI, better known as LagUI, are useless. Even iOS does it better. When Nothing implements the same software update policy it will become a true alternative to the Google pioneers.

PS: I prefer zero years of updates on an Xperia instead of 7 years of OneUI.

S24 series are for those who don't want to upgrade every year so they can wait until the S31 series. Only time will tell on how sturdy the titanium is.

7 years of updates is vastly more important than any AI "features." That means the S24 will continue to receive updates until 2031. Provided Samsung continues to make fresh batteries, this is a great deal.

7 android updates would be better! Not just 1 or 2 android updates and then only security updates for 7 years. After 2 years warranty, we root them and play with them.
