Bravosixgoingdark, 15 Jan 2024Nah they'll probably find some way around it specially... moreThat's true. I'm not sure if the EU said user removable or just removable in general. Apple tried to prevent you from replacing the battery all together because they want you to just buy a new phone
Apple is notorious for their anti consumer practices and they would have continued using their garbage lightning port if the EU didn't force them to get with the times and use usb c like normal human beings so any law the EU passes that's against Apple's practices is a good law to me

SShock, 15 Jan 2024Great, screw us S23 Ultra users. Now they have to change it. Ugh.Better luck next time.

neo, 15 Jan 2024I'm afraid that Samsung is changing to APPLE, no innov... moreWhile I have to agree Samsung has been really complacent in some areas, I also can't agree with the general notion that Samsung does nothing. The flexible display technology is something they've invested hundreds of millions into - what about this innovation?
And speaking of - what is it that Chinese manufacturers "innovate" in that is so ground-breaking? Faster charging is no innovation - it's just increasing numbers on an already-existing technology. Have Chinese Manufacturers (I'll use ChM from now on) invested in new battery technology? Where is it? Have ChM invested in new display technology like Samsung or LG? Where is it? Have ChM invented new type of phone that's different from slab / foldable? Where is it? Have ChM provided any type of solution in the smartphone world that nobody else has and cannot duplicate? What is it?
And while we're at it - what kind of innovation do you expect?

7 years of software updates? Sweet. Hopefully battery replacements are not expensive as it's the one thing that will degrade over time.

As for the AI stuff, putting those features behind a pay wall is dumb as it's diminish the value of the hardware itself where Samsung touts the SoC having better NPUs for AI. I mean if this were true, I might as well just get the S23.

LoneOwl, 15 Jan 2024Thats an awful example dude. Galaxy S9 doesnt have the sof... more"Galaxy S9 doesnt have the software nor hardwar to keep using in 2024."

So now that these newer phones might get 7 years of updates, what's gonna change? They still won't have the hardware, or battery life to make them good for 7 years. New software with old hardware is pointless.

neo, 15 Jan 2024I'm afraid that Samsung is changing to APPLE, no innov... moreLOL. You might me confusing innovation with "changing the color of the back plastic every 6 months."

neo, 15 Jan 2024I'm afraid that Samsung is changing to APPLE, no innov... moreThis Samsung has been imitating an apple for years!! I was a big fan of Samsung, I had all their high-end models since the S2! When these people put up a sign saying that they would not take the charger out of the box and they did it 3 months later hahahaha I said it's the end with Samsung! Greedy company that only aspires to be the iPhone on Android, a system that is not even theirs...

Luckily we have Chinese manufacturers that are increasingly moving away from Samsung things, hoping to God that Google also gets rid of Samsung and displaces them from the United States and there only the iPhone and Pixel remain.

I'm afraid that Samsung is changing to APPLE, no innovation every year, the same S21/S22/S23, even design-wise it looks like minimal changes. They don't even provide a charger in the package anymore. And if you want it, you have to buy it separately.
The only ones who innovate in recent years are Chinese manufacturers. Samsung is setting itself up as an alternative to APPLE, but in the form of Android.
I hear the same practices as APPLE to milk the last cent from the customer and when there is no more interest, then come up with something new...

SShock, 15 Jan 2024Great, screw us S23 Ultra users. Now they have to change it. Ugh.I'm quite sure it's coming to that series too.

This way, Samsung will be able to control your phone and do whatever they want. For example, they will remove some features with an update and ask you to pay a subscription to get back this feature. Of course, they will say it is for security reasons a

This, among other reasons, is why Samsung, Apple and Google flagships are superior to the rest.

And always a premature update for each ofcourse, my s23 ultra is very helpful when it still no software/securitt update, then OneUI 6 gave a hit, aaaalways with some downgrade.

Also the S5 was water resistant despite having a removable battery and that phone is 10 years old so they have no excuses
