imparanoic, 11 Feb 2024Sony used to use unique streak less glimmering alloy called... moreXZ and XZs. Metal that felt like plastic ..

    Xz1 was full metal.

      Plastic is best

      -cheaper
      -Better Weight management
      -Better shock absorption
      -Better signal reception
-Better diversity: the amount of polymers and their strength and weakness are vast .. from bulletproof applications, self healing , heat resistance

As for pollution plastic gets a lot of flack but metals I'd argue are just as bad the amount of energy and waste to mine them are crazy

It happens to cheap gaming laptops, they may be powerful but their build is soo cheap the hinge breaks frequently.

Very hard to say. Don't know the differences. But as long as it is metal and not plastic. Then it is good.

The cheapest for the customer works. (but premium hardware inside)

I'm not a fan of faux Titanium bodied. Where only a thin layer of the outer frame is that, while the rest is recycled coke cans. Metals react to temperature changes differently, which I guess is demonstrated by the high number of self-cracking iPhones this year. The longevity of a device made that way is probably also questionable. In that light, I'd take a proper made Aluminium alloy, any day.

Plastic over everything else. Poco F1, Motorola G100, Poco F5, A52s are all cheap, fast and durable. Their combined cost is probably less than repairing your IPhone's cracked glass lol

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2024Then why is your phone case made of plastic? Wanted to say the same.

I don't know what schooling the guy had, at my school they did learn stuff about how much energy it cost to make something.

To start, bringing out phones every year is a environmental issue alone, but we ignore that for a minute.

Plastic does cost the least amount of energy yo produce compared to aluminium, steel or worse titanium.

Plastic is also, energy wise easier to recycle.

                                  But people forget that.

The poll does give that option, but that is not how I meant it.

                                        Plastic?

No really, it is more flexible and durable, and for the people that slap a case on their way too expensive phone (because it is fragile due to all the unnecessarily expensive materials) it will feel the same anyhow.

But as for the poll, because plastic is not a option ( boo ), aluminium is luxurious and sturdy enough, the other two don't add anything but stupid PR and extra cost to the device.
