Sony Xperia 1 VI might give up on the 4K display and tall aspect ratio

The overall design will still be clearly identifiable.

1440p should be enough & make it user adjustable/dynamic like to save power will adjust to 1080p.

I would be sad if this were true. I've used the Mark III and currently using the V. The 21:9 aspect ratio is GORGEOUS when watching videos and makes scrolling through social media so much better.

The 4K looked great too. To me, Sony should just give you the option to switch to 2K, 1080p, and 720p (even having this activate on Stamina mode would make sense).

Ok but they better put a 2K display then??

The 4K display runs at 1080p most of the time anyway, so if they put in a 2K display that would honestly be an upgrade.

Getting rid of the 4k screen isn't too big of a deal tbh, but i really hope they don't change the 21:9 aspect ratio of their phones, it was tall but felt great in the hand and really practical for me personally. Only hope is that the price comes down to account for the change

However I think they should keep the aspect ratio, it's not that bad. 21:9 is great for watching cinema-format movies, but I rarely watch movies on my phone anyway.

Sony phones have never had 4K resolution! It's utter lie. The resolution they advertise (1644) is not even close to 2160 of 4K! It is much closer to QHD 1440 resolution of S24 Ultra.
Anyway there is no real need on the bar phones of any existing size to go beyond 1080 FHD resolution. The standard FHD video is perfect on the screen with native FHD resolution, 4K video can be perfectly downsized to FHD also.

This can't be true! After removing notf led,now the 21:9 will be gone? What's next, remove sd card and put notch/hole on the screen! Sony is ruining their amazing phones!

Another one bites the dust. I don't mind with the 4K display since it's almost unnoticeable in such small screen. But 21:9? Isn't that one of the things that makes Sony phones iconic? (apart from the 3.5mm jack + memory card slot ofc)

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2024Moviegoers go to cinemas or watch movies on TVs.By that logic gamers also buy a console or gaming PC to play games. Means there's no need for company to make gaming phone. Means there's no need for chipset company to make the chipset faster every year.
By the same logic, photographer also use a real DSLR camera, so there's no need for company to make a great camera on their phone.
