I hope sony starts to advertise this right. Not like the DSLR wannabe 1s and 5s of the past. Keep the pro cam features but improve the auto mode it's a phone first, camera second

There is a gesture to pull down notification from any part of your screen in home screen.. you could even have a gesture to make windows smaller to reach the top with 1 hand.

Another 4K120fps HLG (BT2020) video rec monster is comming. S-LOG/HLG arrive.
:) I showed the original recordings from the 1V HLG to many people and everyone did not want to believe what they saw on the 77-inch screen. Low light HDR is insane.

For my taste I can only applaud this decision. I prefer the wider and less tall screen ration such as used by Apple and Samsung (lately). I never understood the added value of having a tall, narrow screen which requires you even more to stretch your fingers (unless you're ET and can reach it easily). I know some people might fulminate at what I say as they might be a big fan of cinematic stuff or they are content makers and use a phone to do this but then again, a smartphone is in first place a phone and having a wider screen just makes it easy to do everyday tasks such as typing (in whatever app), consulting news or reading stuff. In my mind it makes more sense than to have to use a phone two-handed in landscape position to be able to do that. Just my opinion, don't want to offend those who prefer everything that is 20:9 and more.

Fa14bi, 27 Mar 2024Well, it's the main complain about Sony phones I have ... moreThose critics wouldn't have bought Sony phones anyway, regardless of what Sony does.
It's sad seeing OEMs who were still maintaining something unique like Asus and Sony thought they can do better by becoming like everyone else. They forgot that once they become like everybody else, they will lose, as they're no longer unique, and their brands in the smartphone world have depreciated too long that they cannot just rely on their brand equity for sales (unlike Apple).

Your phones having less width than most other pho... moreWell, it's the main complain about Sony phones I have seen since they have introduced it, the 21:9 screen ratio like 5 Years ago.
Ever time the 21:9 was like 60% of the entire phones critics for every generation.
then there was 20% bezels instead of hole in your screen, and then 20% actual criticism.
So that sony gave in after so long is unexpected by me, but not all that surprising.

Using Xperia Pro-I and S23U here and literally switch phones depending on content to never have black borders on any side. Hope a Pro-I successor keeps the 21:9 screen. I love it.

Hm, a design overhaul? Hope they do sth with the back design too.
Although I grew quite fond of 21:9.
Just keep the quality going Sony.
My almost 4 yr old 5 II is still ticking just like almost new, including the batterylife, which is...quite amazing, to say the least.

James.D, 27 Mar 2024I'd say the 10 V is designed to be somewhat mainstream... moreThe Xperia 1 and the Xperia 5 are for normal people. It's just that the sales are horrible.
