don't need os updates for new features to add but need bug fixes for as long as it can keep the phone running smoothly as new.
but need longer warranty periods and guarantee on parts availability and repair services at nominal cost.

samsung A series would be hard to sell since lots of chinese brands are using better processor and bigger battery & higher screen resolution up 1.5k which clearer & sharper than full hd plus.

Add Samsung's poor optimizations for their non-flagship phones and you have the amazing disaster that is the S23 FE.

These newer Samsung phones that tout long term updates don't/won't last as long as easily as old phones as they can nuke phones with updates. And it's not like they're all getting the same OneUI either. People always fall for the company's promises/marketing tactics.
Samsung used to make winners back in the day. Now they're as shady as Apple.

David 040882, 24 Feb 2025Fair enough, but they're definitely not "Awesome&... morethey were never really "awesome". Afaik the first time Samsung used an A series phone was for the Galaxy Alpha which was marketed as a stylish phone, like the midrangers of today. It did indeed look quite good imo.
They then shifted to the A series which had some quirky stuff going on like the A9 2016 which had a, for the time, massive 6 inch display or the A9 2018 which i think was the first quad cam phone or at least samsung's first proper/usable triple cam setup. I distinctly remember the A80 cus of the swivel selfie cam.
So yeah, even though they weren't exactly "awesome", they were extremely competent or at least quite notable phones which stood out. Nowadays they're only slightly more competent than the competitors and even that lead is shrinking, FAST.

It's genuinely terrible thanks to a combo of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (the chip infamous for running very hot and being very inefficient), small battery and large display (relative to battery capacity).
