[deleted post]oh man. ....you nearly make me cry... :'(
I absolutely agree with you.
I still have my Nokia N8 and is still cool...but my favorite phone ever is and is gonna be Nokia N9 with Meego ...
I had my Lumia 800, it was same design as N9 but noooo ....I didn't like windows at all and I sold it ... :@
can you imagine a Lumia 1020 or 1520 with Meego ...that would make me crazy:D

That was about time. Sadly symbian handsets are just obsolete, even when the 808 was launched, it was very far behind the competition in the cpu, memory and resolution specs. It has all the options and the best camera around (still today), but the market was going in another direction.

I have a 808, and a n8. We recently bought a brand new 820 and it is really, really better in everything but the camera. Also I've tested recently a 520, and the price-value ratio is just amazing. And, in the android arena, well there's plenty to select around.

I would like to buy the next iteration of the pureview King camera after the 1020. The 1020 is amazing but falls behind the competition in the specs other than the camera.

So, it's really time to move on for those us who haven't yet.

i'm a proud owner of Nokia N8 and will still using it until it broke.
Symbian is good and nothing can make me switch to lesser OS (cough... WP... cough...).

Anonymous, 02 Jan 2014So what? Better Microsoft than Google, who only blackmail p... moreWho abandoned their search engine? As far as I know, both MS and Google are still having their search engines running, although I prefer using Google search more than Bing. All companies are out to make money with their businesses. Don't be so naive.

Nokia is really great, closing Symbian & Meego OS on schedule.
.....sold their enter company,s phone devices and services technology to Microsoft on right time.

According to just another news piece delivered here, Jolla has outsold iPhone. If THAT can't tell Nokia executives that they made a BIG mistake, nothing can.

All your devices now turned into waste after closing. Nokia should be responsible for this incident

If you still want to install new, unsigned apps on your Symbian device; "hack" your phone (similar to jailbreak) and install "Install Server" (via RomPatcher+) onto your Symbian device.

This will allow you to install new, unsigned apps. I've been doing this since 2010, after I got my developer certificates - but they expired in 2013.

Rasec, 02 Jan 2014Last year i spent 600€ on a nokia 808. Now what?If I could buy one today, I still would. You can still get all the apps you need from the Store, it's just a little harder to get updated ones. But not too hard if you know how and where.

                                        Nokia 3310 --> Nokia 6600 --> Nokia
n73 --> Iphone Just for jailbreak then sold --> Nokia 5800 --> Nokia 701 --> Nokia N9. Never used the original firmware even from 3310, never used the store. I bought Nokia for the Hardware, Good Materials, Easy Personalized System. Nokia abandoned their own system so what Meego will be jolla Symbian already open to any modder to create own roms
