Why you should buy this device? or why you shouldn't? Is this phone really great or just another over-hyped by apple?

Why this phone were not success in some country? Are you should consider that reason when buying this phone? Or that's a some specific problem at specific country?

What other comparable product offered by competitor for the same money. Is it worth to buy this over-hyped phone by apple? or you should just buy the competitor product?

Have you tried other brand before planing to buy the iphone 3G-TypeR or it's just come out the blue? Should you try other product first? Will you be sorry to find out that your Type-R phone is just looks great but loosing when finishing the chores compared to other product?

Anonymous, 21 Jun 2009You are not getting my point. I use my iphone a lot to emai... moreThat's the beauty of having a keyboard/thumboard with your phone. My sister own iphone and I own a Nokia E-71. When I chat with her, she needs a longer time to answer me because she's struggling with the input method.

And that's why nokia come up with N97. This whole soft/hard keyboard/thumboard is just a matter of choice. But I know a couple of friend that can't go back to the numerical board handphone after using the one with the full-QWERTY. But I haven't seen the one said after using iphone shiz can't go back to the numerical board handphone. My point is.... maybe you should try the full QWERTY phone sometimes.

As for multiple language, I can read/write Chinese with the QWERTY keyboard provided by nokia. And it's faster to use QWERTY keyboard than the touch screen for Chinese language.

As for multitasking, you were being defensive about apple decision to give you a single tasking product. if apple give you multitasking os. I believe all apple follower will worship by multitasking.

As fluidity of iphone. YESS!! I believe that's the biggest ability that iphone has and others manufacture need to learn. But that's only cosmetic. Would you prefer a phone (or car) that only good looking but loosing quality at the other aspect?

[deleted post]I see your point as far as the iphone's "potential" to be used by designers and architects. But there are just tasks that are better done on your laptop or desktop computer. I have the iphone, but it does not replace my MacBook Pro. But my iphone has dramatically decreased my laptop usage as far as checking emails or browsing the web is concerned. But for fun chores like posting comments here at GSM arena, my laptop is my choice of device to use.

So far from what I have seen is one person that actually has the new 3Gs has commented.
The rest of the commenting is a bunch of people thinking they know what they are talking about all I want to do is find out what new phone I get and hear from some people that have actual used the phones but all I get is a bunch of people that read the spec's and dream of owning a N97 or an Iphone.

[deleted post]You're obviously not here in the US. Here in the US, especially US major cities like LA, New york, Chicago, San Francisco, Orange County, Vegas, it is very multi racial. We have Americans who have Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc descents. They speak more than one language. The iphone's keyboard would be very useful for them. So think again. I myself am a Filipino-American. The iphone's keyboard is mostly used for email here in the US, and SMS as well, BUT voice calls are still preferable. Also, we get unlimited voice calls after 9pm and weekends. So why would I sms when I can call for free? Be smart, ok.

              nokia also made in china.

the bad one is the one without a good/strict Quality control.
such as an OEM china phone or a build-it-yourself phone.

              anyway,
I went to china last month
and I saw on the tv an advertisement of mini iphone sold there with 2 GSM card for a mere US$75. Anyone here know about this phone? build quality? etc?

Dean, 20 Jun 2009"What the point having it if the touch is so great.- Not gr... moreYou are not getting my point. I use my iphone a lot to email. I was referring to lengthy, novel-like emails. There are just some chores that you're better off using your laptop, or better to wait to get home to use your desktop computer. My iphone does not replace my laptop. But for quick emails, my iphone does the job just fine.

Of course a hard keyboard would be faster than a soft keyboard. I will not argue with that. But a hard keyboard would also equal to either a smaller screen, or a thicker phone. I prefer a slim phone with a larger display. Hence, I prefer the iphone. As I've said in my other posts, it all depends on what your priorities on a phone are. Some users who are Korean or Japanese or Chinese would love the iphone's soft keyboard layout because you can switch it from english to chinese to korean to japanese. You can't with a hard keyboard.

Multitasking eats up a lot of battery. Most users open up so many apps and forget to close some apps that does not really make sense to be running at the same time. The iphone does allow multi tasking on some apps. Like ipod and web browsing and app updates, which makes sense.

What makes iphone the best phone is, it delivers its features smoothly and fluidly. Other devices have tons of features as well, but it cannot even close and open apps smoothly and fluidly. Other phones cannot retrieve photos w/out lags and erratic behaviors when switching from one photo to another, and even in zooming is a painful task with most phones.

As for battery replacement, how often do you change your battery? Other devices need to have the back of their phones accessible because that's where they put their sim cards or memory cards, and it's also the only way they can reboot their devices when their phone hangs. But that is not the case with the iphone. So why would I pamper with my phone and loose my warranty?

It's not that I don't listen to reason, I'm just being practical. Honestly, I would upgrade to the newest iphone. Meaning, I don't need battery replacement ever, so why would I care about not being able to access the iphone's battery?

[deleted post]How can your 3210 be faster than the iphone in SMS? The iphone has a full qwerty keyboard, your 3210 does not, lol. As for voice calls, iphone 3GS has a voice command that lets you call a contact with your even have to press on anything. So there.

Having a touchscreen phone does not mean it's supposed to solve anything like what you're asking. It's supposed to give you a different experience, and a more realistic interaction with your phone. And in many ways, faster in getting to applications.

The iphone just like your E70, also has a full keyboard. It's a matter of choice. I prefer a soft keyboard over a hard one, but just because I prefer a soft keyboard it does not mean that a hard keyboard is sh*tty, like how you call the soft keyboard. The iphone's touch technology gives you a more natural experience, where you get direct interaction with what's on the display of your device with out sliding out or flipping parts of your phone like your E70, lol. Nothing wrong with buttons, bit like what I said, it's a matter of choice. It's easier to find a sign or symbol with the iphone's soft keyboard compared to your E70 because of the convenient layout of the iphone's keyboard. If you know another language that the iphone supports, you can even change from english to chinese or korean or arab. Can your E70's keyboard do that? So yes, the soft keyboard has advantages as well. The only advantage that I see with the hard keyboard is speed, but it's not like it's slow to type on the iphone's keyboard, because I'm fast at it.

Yes, we are enjoying our iphone, thank you. Unlike you, we're not bitter and jealous if you prefer your E70 =)

NoMiS, 21 Jun 2009Hi guys, I am interest in buying this phone and I have a qu... moreApplication downloaded from itunes are not carrier specific, unless you download one that is which at the moment are very few if not none. Australia iPhone is locked to carrier and it wouldn't accept others sim unless you jailbreak it or you use a turbo-sim. But as far as apps that I know of, it doesn't matter what sim you use as long as the sim works with your phone. Note to NoMiS, it is very expensive to download apps through 3G carrier regardless of what phone. It is better to find a wifi spot (like Starbuck for example) which is basically free if you exclude your drinks! ;)

fiftyfourj, 20 Jun 2009Samsung omnia HD, nokia N97, most recent windows mobile pho... moreSamsung omnia HD and nokia N97 does not have OS X. They do not have voice commands like what the iphone has either. They do not have a fingerprint, water and oil resistance screens either. No multi-touch, threaded view SMS, no App store, no itunes, no touch to focus, etc.

How can being able to open the back of your phone to access the battery be convenient? Why do you have to open the back of your phone in the first place? LOL. As for replacing the battery. That is unlikely to happen anyway. The iphone's battery would at least last for 3 years, and guess what? I've only had my iphone for a year and I'm already upgrading to the 3GS.

I can charge my iphone with my laptop through its USB cable, so yes, the iphone can be connected to your laptop and charge it as well. Next time, know the facts =)

Hi guys, I am interest in buying this phone and I have a quick questions regarding to it and hope someone can help

For example: If I am with Optus (Australia telecommunication company) and bought an iphone from them, all applications will be downloaded by using Optus Sim Card into the iphone. My question is, if I go overseas and use an overseas sim card, will all the applications still works everytime after I update my iphone through iTune? One of my friend told me that the applications might not work with overseas sim card.

Please help and confirm. Thanks a lot in advance.

...well you probably could, all it would take is a rocket ship controlled from an iPhone dock adaptor and to run the original NASA Apollo mission software in an emulator on your iPhone, the computers weren't very powerful back then so you could probably listen to music as the iPhone did it.

It would cost a lot of money but I'd say it would be possible.

It had a lot of colour noise and was very grainy. It only looks good on thumbnail. The same can be said with pictures from those 5 and 8 megapixel cameras. No matter how you look at it, digital cameras have better image quality than cameraphones overall. As they say, never send a boy to do a man's job. The same can be said about cameraphones and digital cameras.

If you read you will see that the photo's taken with the iPhone were testing the touch to focus as can be seen by the same scene shot several times with the settings adjusted for different parts of the scene, this is done by touching the screen to choose the focus, exposure and other settings based on where you touch.
