I don't think there is any other phone in the market now, that offers so much value/features than Nokia 5800. By the way, you will not lose the content of the phone is you do a firmware upgrade, but it is always a good idea to do a backup first (I did an upgrade from V20 to V21 and didn't have to restore a thing).
Please note, those of you who are going to buy this phone and use it only as a camera: don't. You are better off to buy a proper digital camera (check out the new Canon or Sony). The phone deserves to be used at its full capacity, as an all rounder: Music, Video, WiFi, Internet, GPS Navigation, Office, VoIP, Social Networks, chat, and so on, and so on.

Come on People, Nokia Express Music 5800 is a great Phone, don't listen to anybody who don't know how to use it, i have it for 6 months and all applications works goooood, didn't turn off and no freezing, didn't restart alone, everyday i use the cam at night and in the day, i takes best pictures, best videos, best music, the wifi is good also the battery.
Don't let anyone tell you that the cam is bad, or it's freezing or restarting something like that, just go buy it and enjoy all the applications. Who is saying that it's a bad phone so i think it's better for them to rebuy an old phone that it had 2 buttons one to answer and the other to close, Express Music 5800 is a great Phone go have it :)

5800 user, 13 Jun 2009by the way guys im not a nokia fanboy or a nokia hater or a... moreI'm using the same firmware, and until now I had only once the phone freeze (I was testing a new application). Other than that, it works without any problem and I haven't experienced the phone to restart. Check if the battery contacts are well connected or if you are not running any 3rd party "not well tested" applications on the phone. Finally, it might be just a bad luck to have a faulty unit.

Hamza, 13 Jun 2009can anybody tell me is nokia 5800 better or nokia n79?Nokia N97 is better than Nokia 5800XM, but it is not worth the price. Therefore, considering from price/value perspective, you are better-off with Nokia 5800XM.

by the way guys im not a nokia fanboy or a nokia hater or anything i just want to tell all potential buyers on my opinion of the phone so that they will get their moneys worth if they want to buy this or not. I have this phone i want to love it but nokia should give a stable firmware first before i will say this phone rocks , cause right now versin 21.0.025 still have some bugs that cause the phone to hang and restart by itself .

what i can say about the 5800 is based on my hands-on experience first overall the phone is not that good but its still acceptable, it sure has many bugs but remember the iphone 3g when it first came out it also has alot of bugs and the UI is not that fast and accurate back then , the camera of 5800 is similar to the 6120 which i also own , yes its not of good quality but still acceptable especially photos during the day , but at night both phones just produce greenish pictures but videos are ok in the 5800 plus the flash can also be used in video mode.
Conclusion:
The phone is a good deal its not expensive , it cost 15,500 pesos here in the philippines but for those who want to buy this phone i would suggest you wait for a few months lets just say wait for september maybe nokia will annouce new phones by then like the rumored nokia 5530 xpressmusic and the nokia 5900 if that is true if not then go for nokia 5800 but still wait for a few months cause right now the firmware is still not stable , wait for a better firmware update , nokia should first fix that bugs that causes the phone to crash and turnoff cause that really is irritating other bugs is acceptable for me as long as it doest restarts the phone or hangs it , cause right now my problem is when my phone hangs i need to remove the battery and put it back again to restart/turn it on again and i hate that so please nokia fix first the bugs that causes the phone to hang or turnoff by itself.
If this phone would have had a stable and less bug firmware many would want to buy this with out any doubts on their minds.
For potential buyers , again i suggest wait for a stable firmware update before you buy it !

u have to be carefull about the virus from net net, and for the cam just use the right mode, in the night put night mode ...

hi.
it have been 3 weeks from the purchase date.. last night my phone is showig a bug.. it switches off.... as i restart it ... then again it hangs n switches off.

I really wanna buy this phone but i guess ill just have to wait for a while and see if theres a much more stable firmware update coming " bug free or atleast less bug " cause from other comments they say that latest firmware still has many bugs , it fixed a few but also has new ones im talking about bugs .

Hello all, well to all pple who is complaining about the 5800 Phone,bad cam and bad pic... try to change settings for the cam, for exp in the night u have to change it to night mode like every Sony Digital Cam, u all talking that it is a bad phone so before u say that go read the catalogue and read how to use it then tell me ur opinions. It's a good Phone, 3.2 Touch screen 3.2 mega pixel cam nice voice, wifi, 8GB Memory Included, Radio...

hi there!!! i bought this fone 5 days ago. pls tel me how to open the office viewer, i haven't found it. and also i cant connect to some wifi networks like McDo. it works flawlessly to some networks. camera is really not good in poor light. plz help me guys. audio is great. overall its a great fone

I can't view word (.doc) or power point (.ppt) files in 5800... does it really have document viewer as it's mentioned in the specifications (@ gsmarena)?
