I agree with Andy214

If they make this phone smaller, it'll be thicker and they gonna have to change the internal design of this like SIM card and MMC position, and all.
My previous phone is 6600 and I never complain for its size. With regard to 6260, they do have a reason why this is a bit bigger compared to other flip phone. I think Nokia wouldn't put twist feature, bigger screen, and spaceous keypads if they'll design this smaller. And for sure if they made it that way you'll complain about small screen, crowded keypad and all instead of complaining about its unit size.

Though the SIM card is difficult to remove, they placed it under the memory card to at least save a little more space, unlike in 6600 which is kindof next to each other.

I'm not a Nokia endorser or something as I've aready tried another brand. All I want to say is that Nokia wouldn't make a design of a particular phone for no reason.

In the first place, 6260 targets the business side market and not the general mass or public. If you're a non-business type of person or digs a teeny-bopper type of phone, then look for something else. As I've said on my previous post, each of us has different tastes which would eventually change like mine. I like the candy-bar type of cellphone before (like the old 5110, or 6600) and now I'm loving flip phones (clamshell) and I'm starting to look for another good one or wait for the Panasonic Z800 and give it a try at the store =P (WINK)

keep it cool Andy!

            loy,

This phone cost in RM1599 from NOKIA PROFESIONAL centre.

Second hand phone? Becareful though, they might get a defective or AP model which have problems... Or if you're LUCKY, they want to sell it coz they wanted to change to the black coffee version. (YES, there're a few people I met who are willing to lose a few hundred just to change to the black coffee version).

Well, I guess you should buy in April, probably the price will drop again since new phones are coming out... But not sure whether it will cause, it just drop from RM1699...

              loy,

If you really read all the comments, you would've read my FEW comments and repeats that 6260, 6600, 7610, and previous models all doesn't have STEREO Speakers... Only N-Gage Classic and LATER NOKIA Symbian phones have it.

Anyway, if you do read my FEW comments, I've aalso repeatd that you can ACHIEVE STEREO quality through the use of STEREO headset. EEven for other models like 6600, 7610, etc...

6260 compared to 6600 is QUITE a lot of difference... but you could also said that it was an upgrade from 6600 because most of the things are the same WITH ADDED features and upgraded processing and memory... and lastly, it's a CLAMPSHELL phone...

6260 has the same processing speed as 7610, I think the same OS version as 7610 as well, same memory as 6600 BUT with additional 3.5MB dedicated for SMS and contacts (so means, you have more free memory compared to 66600).

Better power management and stability (YES, it's more stable than 6600, nor 7610, so don't complain bout stability of this phone, if yours is unstable, make sure your firmware is up to date and your phone is ORIGINAL or not faulty).

The speakers for this phone is MUCH MUCH MUCH louder, so ringtones also very loud, good... plus, you can open UltraMP3 can just listen like that (whereas for 6600, 7610, etc... you can hardly hear).

MP3 Ringtones! Dem this is good, saves a lot of space and preserve the quality.

Really good REAL PLAYER version, can play MP3 as well.

              ----

Well, so much for the extra features and advantges, now let talk about the disadvantages...

It's fragile... very fragile... Don't know what will happen if you drop it... But, I think most clamshell phone are fragile...

              Speaker is MONO...

              Low Quality Camera...

              No Front LCD Display...

*POWER* (This might not really be a drawback due to it's slim design, so... if it were to fit a BLC-5C, the phone will be thicker in size...)

              ----

Other facts that many don't understand:
This phone is NOT big, I repeat NOT big,... I MEAN FOR A SMARTPHONE, not a NORMAL phone... If you just want a NORMAL phone, you can get it at very small size...

I've mention before, some people complain that it's too long,... THEY can make it short but it will be thick and NO MORE HOT-SWAP memory (it will be like 6600, the MMC and SIM under the battery). The screen is about the same size as 7610. In fact, the whole phone size is about the size of 7610 (closed). So, before you say the phone is BIG, think first. They already make the phone very small, where you can see IT's SO HARD to INSERT or TAKE out the SIM CARD and MMC, plus, you can't even fit a BLC-5C battery which is JUST a little thicker...

              ---

Lastly, this phone have a very very profesional look, and LOOKS like a TABLET PC (LAPTOP WHICH CAN TWIST AND TURN).

You can twist it to look like a LAPTOP attached with the KEYBOARD to do your WORK... or WATCH some MOVIES...

TWIST and TURN + Side CAMERA = PERFECT for PICTURE taking (IF YOU KNOW HOW)...

                Hi Loy! =)

the difference between 6600 and 6260 isnt just radio. 6260 has built in MP3 player, push to talk feature, Microsoft Word and Power Point viewer, longer video recording, faster processor, built in Chat client (and a lot more minor but useful differences).

                6600 doesnt support stereo speakers.

you cant change the color of the phone. its the paint itself. get the black phone if you want it (its more cool than the silver one).

I got my unit for US$337 wink wink =)
regular price is US$418 i think.

ill find photoAcute for you. ill keep you posted aight? =)
(if anyone here has it, be kind enough to share it to Loy)

Owen, thank you very much for the post. It realy helped me. I want you to know that am away from the idea of using the phone only for calling and typing. I don't think that a man setisfied only by that would care about a phone like nokia 6260 (wich has almost everything). As I mentioned my mother has 6230 and I know that the diference between 6230 and 6260 is huge mainly because of the operation system and I would buy 6260 instead of 6230 even if 6260 didn't have mp3 player at all. As an young man (I'm 15 years old) I wellcome the new technologies and I can't live without them so I think the 6260 is the perfect cellphone for me because when I buy a cellphone I want it to have everything.
Thank you again for the post. If I have more questions I'll ask again. Bye.

                                Hi Slavyan =)

Well, for me i can live with the MP3 having a mono sound (ofcors if its stereo, its a plus).
If you'll buy this phone using the MP3 player as one of the main reason and if you're meticulous when it comes to sound quality, you might not enjoy the MP3 sound (though it isnt so bad).
My friend has 6230 and as far as i know, its MP3 quality is better than 6260 (but then, the 6260 has better interface and more options with regard to installing applications, and some other features).
so i guess it all boils down to the question "what type of user are you"?
if you dont care about added features of a phone and you're just a as-long-as-i-can-text-and-call type of person and considers MP3 as main factor, get the 6230. otherwise, get the 6260.
Visit Nokia shop and try both phones and browse through everything and listen to sound and check camera quality before you buy one. at least you saw it yourself than just basing it on suggestions here. afterall, everyone has its own taste =)

                                hope this psot helps you.

As I've mentioned a few times, I'm planning to buy this phone in about a month so I am very interested in everything about it. So I saw some of you to say that the mp3 quality is bad (mono), some say that it's not so bad and they can live with it, some say that when you put on the headset it becomes good (stereo). That's why I need comparance. My mother has 6230. I wonna know what's the sound quality of 6260 with the headset compared to the sound quality of 6230 with the headset because I'll mainly listen to the mp3 player with the headset. Also I'd like to know if someone of you knows a Symbian application the can make the sound quality of the mp3s better.
If someone of you has heard both of the cellphones, please, help me!

My opinion is very clear. If u have to play ping pong, but u dont have a racket, just take the 6260 instead. It has the soft side for defense (the display) and the hard side (back) for strike :)). You can actually win.

                                        Helena,

good to hear that,... yea, I believe most people do know a phone is a phone, just that, if you're paying the same amount for a PHONE and a SMARTPhone, that's a big difference... but since you're getting it for FREE, it' great then... besides, some people might not get used to Symbian or any other SMARTPhones..

BUT, just for a reminder, because many people who bought a non-SMARTphone when they have a choice and later, they saw their *friends* playing with their SMARTphones and all the cool feeatures, they started to regret buying their phones... But, yours is free, so enjoy :)
