to all nokia user, i,m using 6500 slide for pass 5 month.
PROBLEM: Always hang need to open battery to re-active the phone.....
Radio not clear at all.....radio searcing problem not user friendly.....phone at the speaker area become hot when long talking...
Ringing tone sometime change by it'self from the ring tone that we already select

I can confirm that the battery does hold out much longer. The same held true form me when I did an update for my Nokia N95. I used to not used it at all because of the poor battery life.
I had V 12.04.1, & I updated to V 22.04.6 & the battery is great now!! I can go three days w/o a charge.
The FW updates are the reason I like Nokia so much. They may release some phones that have bugs, but they do indeed make good on the FW updates.

Looks like the software update is nothing but good news. I did the update over last weekend n at the beginning of the week i noticed that the battery life kind of improved. Well i dint want to blow the trumpet yet coz its really hard to connect improved battery life to a software update, isn't it guys. Anyway i chose to hold on a little longer to see how the battery does after the next charge since the upgrade and i can comfortably say my battery life has improved three fold! Like right now i charged it on tuesday and am sure it wil last me all the way til end of friday and i stil wont get a low battery alarm. Previously i used to charge it once every 24hrs for sure. Could it be the new firmware has a way of optimising power usage? Still beats me why such a leap in battery life! By the way i am a heavy user of my cellphone with gaming, internet and multimedia, except when am working of course.

For the upgrade, download the software updater which u can find on the nokia website. Install that on the computer then connect the fon to computer via usb cable and open the software updater. It will automatically go to the internet, download the update (38.1mb in size) and update ur fon firmware.Thanks to Bob.

You guys must realise one thing,with these new phones and all its applications the battery life will obviously be shorter than a phone with less apllications-I have a 6500 slide-higly recommended

@ Frando, there are usually two ways of downloading games to the fone. First would be by connecting to the internet using the fone itself and downloading the game which the fone instals in the games folder. The second way which i personally use is by using my PC to go to the internet and download the setup file (.jar) file to the computer and then send the file to the fon using bluetooth or data cable and the fone installs the game on the fon. That way I still keep the jar file in my computer for future use even with fones i might purchase later. Games and applications are in plenty on the net. Try mobile9.com, mobiles24.com and zedge.net. U could use my option of getting the games to have the games at your disposal in future too.

This phone sucks . . .
it just turn off by itself and when you put it on again it the screen is blank and in one blink turns off again by itself. . . now i'm really having a big problem. . .
can somebody help me plss. . .!!!!

@ Frando, I had the same problem when i upgraded but i just had to make do with re-installation of all my games and applications using the initial .jar file

Hello People, I just upgraded my nokia 6500 slide phone to v 06.60 which I must confess is very superb compared to the earlier version. My problem is that when I try to restore my back up from the memory card to the phone memory, my pre-installed games do not open, it says "wrong format". Can anyone help me? Could it be that the operating system of the software has changed?

My bro has bought this phone recently and I love it. All the features are up to the mark and the speaker works well. I have been talking to my galfren for at least 5 hrs on this phone and our love`s shining like a bright star. Thanks to you Nokia6500 and I love you as much as I love my GF.

@ rick.....well from my 6500 slide fon the code is 0549722 and not the one you typed. and when i clicked to check update it told me there is 6.60 available.

I'm planning to buy this phone, and I can't seem to find any info about is it Symbian or not. Can anyone inform me about it and tell me what OS is it working on if not symbian?

@ Bob.I went to nokia site using link http://europe.nokia.com/A4143002 and put in product code 0548496 for 6500 slide but it still showed version 4.84 as latest.Please tell exactly how to get version 6.1.Thanks.

i want to know if a voice command can be attached to the contacts? i want it to call out whose calling like it does in Nokia E90 and all other nokia's lastest phones....

Well I am sorry if it surprises you that I was a mile away from the fone and the Pc during the upgrade. I just saw a message that the phone was disconnected from the USB. This happened after I updated the software of my Nokia 6300 to V 06.01. So as you can see, I understand English perfectly. By the way, the phone is now ok. I got it flashed at a nokia service centre today. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Excellent in design..ergonamic style.Superb in tones and clarity in voice call.I love the camera with outstanding flash.It's more than enough to be called communication gadget...a four star ratings.
