Nokia 6500 slide - User opinions and reviews

hi there, i am getting this phone on an 18 month contract and i was playing with the actual phone when i was shown it whilst training for nokia and i love it!
trust me, great phone!

@MobileSlider Thanks for the reply. Today I went to a store that's listing it in stock. The guy was very nice and patient with me, but to my unpleasant surprise, they only had the Asian version. I tried to see if there's some firmware/software update for it on the Nokia site, but it's asking for the "product code" which obviously I don't have, unless I buy the phone. I've downloaded the Nokia PC suite but I would have to connect the phone to be able to search for updates, so I'm going in circles here... I'll call the two places you've recommended (from the left colomn of providers) and see if they have the Euro version. Thanks again.

Been using the handphone for 2 weeks now, the slide mechanism seemss wobbly, feels as though the slider gonna drop off or something, the flash is too bright and the speaker is located in the back...wished for the flash to be less bright and better speaker locations...Battery life quite good 4 me as can last 2 days with alot of usage...

@Huo..Thanx mate.

@MMM....yes the phone will work in the USA. It is quad-band, so all frequencies are covered.

If you want a Euro version, call or E-mail the place you want to buy it from & specifically ask for the Euro version. I think cti-miami.com has the Euro version, as well as mobilecityonline.com.

I would still double check to be sure though.

well , its great , but every 2 days it alone restores the defualt settings ( tones and wallpaper) , thanks nokia , as if the weak battery wasnt enough !!

Don't know why you cannot use the flash for video, unlike Samsung. Maybe it is not the same kind of Led ?

A theme can include a ringtone or not. If not, when changing the theme the ringtone will not change. To erase (or add) a ringtone on a theme, use Nokia Serie 40 Theme Studio 2.2. Download free from Nokia web site for developpers. Hope this helps

I went to the Nokia store in a major USA city and they don't have it. Does this phone work in the USA? If so, if I order it online, how can I make sure I won't get the Asian version (with all the ring tones/theme issues some userse here mentioned). Thanks.

TO JANICE-- sounds to me like the 20mb of memory has been filled, you need to either start deleting stuff on your phone, or but yourself a memory card... ;)

The Nokia N73 is much louder but the 6500s is much sleeker and with an easier key pad.I have an N73 and when i upgrade it will probably be to a 6500s.

1) Every time u change the theme the ringtones and slide animation are changed thats not a software problem its Series-40 point

2) this fone is scratch resistant don't worry about the casing

3) the firmware doesn't have ANy bugs
4) hope in the next firmware they enable the flash with nightmode although the flash is toooo strong really

5) also wished they put the speaker in the side instead of the back of the fone
