Could anyone please tell me exactly what differences does it make if you upgrade the E51 firmware to its latest version (220.34.37)?

ive try many brands of phone, but nokia is still my favorite brand, cause of its user friendly and easy to updated in many need.i have use many nokia series,in my opinion the best series, less problem is series 5,and e series.but anyway
this phone is my best phone beside nokia 9300.the performance is so stable,i never had bad experience using this phone.& it has a lot of shortcut button.the processor speed, the sound quality, camera, works fine for me for its class.
the only thing that bother me is no front camera for video call.if theres one, then this is the perfect phone.
anyway i give this phone 9/10.

sase, 18 Dec 2008I can't download theme from zedge why? please tell me

            To Sase,

just make sure that the themes you have downloaded is compatible with E51 or other phone.. Select themes under S60V3 or compatible to E51 then you have no problem with installing themes.. there are many sites that offers FREE themes for almost all phones, just surf the net..

            enjoy.

You can call or directly send a sms to the number embedded on the sms.. Just make sure the AUTOMATIC FIND is ON..

To do so, open an existing sms then press option then scroll down, select AUTOMATIC FIND ON.

After doing so, ALL the numbers on any sms will be UNDERLINED. Press the down key on the Dpad and the underlined numbers will be highlighted.

Pressing the Call Key will ask you who to call... the sender or the number you selected (underlined). . Hence, pressing the option key will ask you whther to call, send sms..etc the sender or the selected underlined number...

So i think the telephony of S60 especifically for the E51 is much better than S40.

Unfortunelly, this phone doesn't have any GPS reciver, as it should have , like his biggest brothers. It's bad, altough is a great phone. I might think that's a leak of attention from their part, but you might quite think that's all because the phone was launched earlier than E66 and E71.............. To bad... :(

S60 is an open OS and S40 isn't. Because S60 is an open OS it's more powerful than S40 as you can overide internal settings using 3rd party apps...like getting an app to record calls without a beep being heard...and that's just one example.

S60 definitely sounds the right way to go right ?

Well the E51 is my first s60 phone and even though I have played around with them in the past you don't realise certain things until you actually own one.

S60 might be more powerful than S40 but S40 trumps S60 when it comes to telephony features. In S40 you can send a number to standby and edit it which makes it easier to use certain operator features which includes using asteriks (*) and number sign (#) keys.

In S60 it's too cumbersome getting these symbols in a number you choose to edit as when you select edit you are presented with the number in a box and you have to bring up the symbol menu to insert a simple thing like asterik and number sign. I miss S40 where that is concerned.

Also, in S40, making use of a phone number embedded in a sms is much better. Once the sms is hightlighted or opened, pressing the dial key brings up all numerical characters including the number the sms came from and you can easily dial it right away. Whether it be a telephone number or operator code (which activates a service by sending that numberical code using the dial key), the dial key will bring it up. It is so effortless doing these tasks in S40 compared to S60.

In S60 when you highlight or open a sms, pressing the dial key only ask if you would like to call the sender of the sms instead of listing digits it found in the sms. This turns me off so much and this is the MAIN turn off where S60 is concerned.

The ONLY reason I haven't dumped S60 is because once you get into it you can't let go. Power is something that nobody likes to let go and S60 has a whole lot of muscle in most areas compared to S40. If only Nokia could tweak S60 and find a way to implement S40 telephony advantages...If Nokia could pull this off then I would give S60 100% as the other drawbacks are minor.

Once you get hooked to S60 you can't go back though especially with phones like the E51. Wi-Fi + VOIP takes the cake and is enough to make you NOT go back to S40

For all of you who are considering the E51, go for it, you won't be disappointed.

However, I miss my Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6300 where telephony is concerned.

Recently I updated my phone firmware to 200.34.37. It was 200.34.36. After updating, no more overheating during charging. But battery life extremely decreased. Before it would worked 4-5 days, now 2-3 days only. I do not recommend you to upgrade your firmware. And you will not have chance to return previous firmware again. ı am very upset.

                                  Hello...

I have these strange queries, please help me...

                                  1) Does the phone shows any symbol or is there any way to find out that whether I'm in Home Network or Roaming?
(Except scanning for Available N/W s)

Cause many times I have to go on the border area of the state where the Network switches to Roaming and it becomes difficult to ensure whether I'm on Home Network or Roaming and so I hesitate making calls at that time.

                                  2) Can I change shortcut for the button provided on the left for recording purpose to some other application.
