I've made my phones Camera shutter sound mute in silent profile. in some regions they allow to use Camera in silent mode. mos of the European regions. in Asia pacific it is required to have shutter sound on while you taking a picture. so simply updating your firmware using Euro product can disable this annoying shutter sound!

hi dude i bought my e51 a month bak by exchanging my N6300.the main purpose of buying this phone is the Wlan.the phone is rilly gud..no comment on it except the screen size..well coming to the point recently i noticed the battery life of my e51 has dropped down drastically..i.e the standby time came down to one day from 5 days.wats the problem wid my phone?is anyone facing the same problem?kindly help me regarding this.im really depressed..hoping to see u soon..

Anonymous, 21 Jul 2008I dont know which to buy so i need help. Is it worth paying... moreyes, its really woth it to but this e51. read the specs and compare it to the e50. you'll find the difference. i've been using my e51 3 months already... wifi works for me...

For goodness sake, do at least *some* research on li-ion batteries before mouthing off...
The BP-6MT battery on the E51 is a Lithium Ion Polymer battery (as in many other modern cell phones) - the battery is abbreviated as li-po or li-ion poly or sometimes simply li-ion.
Li-ion and li-ion polymer (li-po) batteries, unlike Ni-MH or Ni-CD counterparts, should *never* be fully discharged beyond the critical discharge threshold - this will only damage the internal circuitry of the battery.
"Extreme low voltage must also be prevented. At this voltage, most circuits may render the battery unserviceable and a recharge on a regular charger is not possible."
Hence, li-ion li-po batteries are not the same as a Ni-MH or Ni-CD battery which *must* be cycled (charged - completely discharged) to remain in good working order. In fact it's quite the opposite. Never fully discharge a li-ion or li-po battery - period.

Your information is not accurate.
I have checked out the changelog for the new firmware but some say they don't know how accurate the changelog is and furthermore, sometimes users will notice different things that the changelog DOESN'T mention.
With me I do my researches as well as ask other users about their experiences whatever the topic may be.

First of all the E51 is a lovely phone.
I'm coming from a Nokia 6300 and the only thing the 6300 have over it is a higher contrasted screen resulting in higher clarity. Nevertheless, some people complained about not being able to adjust the 6300's brightness/contrast so I guess the E51 screen will be more comfortable on the eyes for everyone in general.
It's very comfortable to hold and hard to believe Nokia could cram so much feature in such a compact phone. Sorts of reminds me of the 6230 which was advance for it's time.
The E51 works flawlessly and it's exorbitant list of features is a pleasure to use from making calls to websurfing, using VOIP and instant messaging services. You name it, the E51 can do it and does it all effortlessly.
Originally the E51 doesn't come with a memory card in the sales package but don't worry, there's still sufficient storage room to install whatever you want to install on it.
To people who miss the shortcuts using the navi-keys popularly found in s40 phones, you can still achieve this with the E51.
You can get the quick SMS feature by disabling active standby. Once you disable active standby the phone becomes somewhat like the s40 phones where the left navi-key brings up the SMS editor, right key goes into the Calendar, down key shows your contacts and up keys activate the camera. Other than disabling active standby, don't forget there's a create new sms message plugin which is first on the rows of plugins on the very active standby screen. It's also said that you can reconfigure the e-mail button to create a new sms message and go into your sms mailbox based on whether you use long or short presses. As you can see, it's very customisable and no need for complaints.
It's a feature phone and can do everything except making breakfast.
The only shortcoming is the milder screen in comparison to the 6300's but other than that it's miles ahead of the 6300 and the majority of phones out there.

Never completely discharge a cell phone battery - doing this may damage the battery itself. These new Lithium-Ion batteries provide best performance when frequently recharged, regardless of how little it's depleted.
For optimal performance of Li-Ion batteries, you should recharge at approx 40% depleted. If you store your battery for longer periods of time, never fully charge the battery beforehand - just leave it be.

Peter, 22 Jul 2008Can anybody out there please tell me whether it is possible... moreyes thats correct. to turn off the warning tones go to your current profile and disable 'warning tones'. this function mute all warnings including the welcome tone. except the camera shutter sound.

Can anybody out there please tell me whether it is possible to disable the warning sound when the battery is nearing empty? The warning sound starts and repeats itself when there is still enough power for three or four calls.
Furthermore, I have been told that it is advisable to let the battery run completely empty every now and then. Is this correct?

Original_Jamaican, 21 Jul 2008ZEF, I also spoke about it missing GPS but now I realise I'... moremate, though this phone don't gave a GPS receiver it can navigate you to wherever you want. but you will be charged large amounts for transmitting data. so i recommend you install the 'Nokia Map Loader' on your laptop or PC and download the necessary map straight to your phone. then you can use 'nokia maps' on your phone without being charged a single penny. after you download the map you want you can disable the setting on your phone which connects you to the net whenever you use nokia maps. there is a large archive of maps for you to choose from.
i downloaded the map of Australia to my phone and tried it you and it works perfectly fine. (big smile) it even tells you where to turn, calculate your journeys distance, show alternative routes and a lot more. try it out. you will be pleased with it.

My friend, when you first turned on your E51 ... moreas i'm a prepaid user i cannot use blackberry on my phone. none of the networks here provide the facility to prepaid users. so i'm using Mail for exchange.
anyway if you want to have blackberry from your phone your mobile network provider should have the blackberry technology first. once you inform them they will either set it up for you, leaving nothing for you to do with the set up but to use it straight away or else they will provide you with the sim card leaving you to do the setting up.
