True, but skype to skype calls are free. you only need a stable internet connection. you have to pay for other calls. not for the calls you make within skype. i use skype a lot on my free days and i never get charged a single cent. no matter whether i call from the pc or from the phone when i'm in a hot spot.

Skype is NOT for me. It's not what I expected it to be.
First of all it doesn't support the regular Instant Messengers - Yahoo & MSN and secondly Skype is NOT free. You have to pay for Skype to Skype calls.

Thank you for the Skype link.
From reading the statement on the mobile page I don't see where it supports regular IMs like Yahoo & MSN. That's the advantage with Fring over Skype. Nevertheless I will get Skype just for the sake of making free calls (smile).

To WINURA:
For some reason I only hear the 3D effect when I play tones from the 3D Menu settings .
When I turn 3D on and go to the general ringing settings for call, where you select the ringing used for calls etc. I don't hear the 3D effect from that area .
Other than testing it from within the 3D menu, does it only works when somebody calls ?

Hi,
I read about the firmware of the Phone to be upgraded to 200 from 100 to improve the performance specially the battery back up.I use it very scarcely & I have to charge my phone every alternative day.Pls let me know how to check the firware of my phone & upgade it to 200?

I am using Nokia E51 for almost a month now and i am continuously facing a problem that every now & then the menu screen gets hanged.
I have previously complained this to the Nokia customer care department on its website, they recomended me to download the latest version from their website.
After downloading and installing the current version it worked fine for few days then again i have start facing the same problem.
I have a friend also using Nokia E51 having the same problem in his handset.
Can any one Please give us a solution to this.

abc, 15 Jul 2008Doe the E51 have push email? How abt the new E71?I use Blackberry service as push mail on my E51 and love it. The only problem is that I can not open all the documents that I get as attachment. Not sure why.

and i think i have confused you with the application. what i said was if you use skype to make CALLS you may get charged a lot form you operator. same goes to what ever the application which you can make FREE calls unless you use it in a wi fi network. the reason for that is you're making an internet call through your service providers network. you will understand what i'm talking about once you're installing skype. (smile)

I hope I'm not speaking too soon but now that I am adjusting to the E51 I think it's safe to say that Nokia Smart Phones are the only way to go (smile).
I guess I should stop complaining about the ringing volume, my phone rang just now and it frightened someone in my office. That's what I like (smile).
Winura, I can see you aren't using the Nokia Chat a whole lot.

WINURA, funny enough I have been at Skype site a few times since you told me about downloading the software. I'm yet to find N95 mentioned anywhere on the site.

What is funny is that on Nokia E51's homepage, Nokia says you can get both Yahoo Messenger & MSN Messenger Live as a free download using the download tool in the phone. When I used the tool I see Gizmo and some more stuff but no Yahoo or MSN to download.
While on the subject of communication I still don't know whether to go with Skype, Fring or Gizmo. Earlier Winura said Skype sends a lot of data to the phone and I'm thinking of too much clustering.
For ALL you people who have used Skype, Fring and Gizmo which do you recommend ? Which uses the least memory, runs faster, have more or better features, more intuitive, have clear voice conferencing etc.

Unfortunately Nokia Chat didn't accept my Forum Nokia password but I was able to create another account with Nokia Chat.

Other than the higher qualit... moreFirst of all i was talking about skype. on skype, when you're installing they recommend you switch off the voice feature unless you have a data plan from your service provider. they say you will get charged a lot for making calls from skype because it transmits a quite a lot of data. if you're connected to a wireless network and if you have skype installed in your phone you can make calls even without having a sim card in your phone.
By reading your post i understand you're not so happy about the phone's ringing loudness. i wonder why. anyway as far as i'm concerned i don't think there are E51's which are made in hungary.
